Today we’d like to introduce you to Dana Morehead.
Dana, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve always been crafty and have done well at making things. I like knitting but started dabbling in jewelry making as a hobby a couple of years ago. I would make bracelets for people here and there. However, at the suggestion of a good friend, Tiffany Baldwin, I began to try and sell my work. I started by participating in vendor shows and also began to post my work on social media platforms. As a result, my business took off from there.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One struggle is selling merchandise online. Many people want to see the product in person, and presentation is everything. In addition to that, finding good beads and charms to use can also be a challenge. I always want to use great quality products when creating pieces.
Please tell us about Armartbythedoll.
Arm Art by the Doll is my baby. For that reason, I am dedicated to making handcrafted art to create beauty. The name originated from my nickname, The Doll. I specialize in stretched and stacked bracelets, and I’m most proud of the joy that I see in my customer’s faces after they see the quality of work that I produce for them. However, what sets me apart from the others is that I’m able to offer quality, trendy, sheek, and fashionable arm art at very affordable prices.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I’d have to say that my favorite childhood memory would be all the times that I spent with my late mother; Dessie Wilson. She taught me everything that I know about being crafty and about being a jack of all trades. Because of her, I know that I can do just about anything that I set my mind to.
