

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dana Stilley
Hi Dana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Dating back to my childhood, I have always been around sports and fitness. I was a competitive gymnast for 17 years and a sprinter in high school, where my father was my high school track coach. I attended TCU in Fort Worth, TX, where I graduated from Nursing School and was a cheerleader for the Horned Frogs. I went on to become an RN and work in Labor & Delivery for 15 years. Throughout this time, I was raising my own babies, married to my college sweetheart and living in Fort Worth. Around 2016, I decided to get my personal training certificate and step away from in-patient hospital care to be home full time with my little ones. In 2019, I took a leap of faith and started training clients 1:1 out of their home. This helped fulfill my passion of helping women in similar life stages, while using my knowledge of postpartum fitness and women’s services. I also started sharing home workouts that were quick, effective and fun with minimal equipment on Facebook and Instagram, because I saw a need to help those around the world who were too busy to train at the gym or couldn’t afford a personal trainer. I especially loved that you didn’t have to leave home and could raise your babies, while reaching your health and fitness goals. After that year of training 1:1 at client’s homes and growing my social media accounts, 2020/COVID hit and I couldn’t believe the timing of wanting to grow my business! It was God’s plan for sure. My social media accounts blew up with people around the world wanting to stay active from home. I fell in love with helping busy women/SAHM from all over get fit and feel their best. Today, I continue to grow my social media accounts sharing FREE, 20-30 minute Home Workouts, along with fit tips and healthy, macro-friendly recipes. Last year, I obtained my Nutrition Coach Certification to help guide and launched my own FaithFitHome fitness app you can download through Google Play and the App Store-I have a 6 week Beginner Fitness Program that includes meal planning, three workouts/demos weekly, healthy habits incorporated into your day, a community support of like-minded women and so much more. In addition, I will be launching a second 4-workout program, called the FUNctional Fit Formula, which will be released early March. I have only scratched the surface of FaithFitHome and continue to look for ways to bring FAITH to your FITness journey from HOME.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Branching outside my comfort zone and completely changing my profession from nursing to personal training was a risk I was willing to take to be home with my kids more and not have to work weekends/holidays. I felt it was something God was calling me to do so I took the chance. I’ve also struggled with growing my social media accounts! There are so many fitness accounts out there but I think it’s important to stay true to yourself, not compare yourself to someone behind a screen-and stay consistent with posting. The flip side to this-committing time to your phone all day does take away from family time, so that is something I struggle with…Guilt! I have a super supportive husband, but I make time for date nights and try to set boundaries to turn off my phone and give him attention. It is the same way with my kids. I’ve definitely had to learn to separate work and family time, which has been a struggle but I’m learning to give myself grace and put family first!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am Registered Nurse and hold a current license, with a special certification in Obstetrics. Although I am not currently practicing as a nurse, I am able to use my knowledge in women’s services to be able to direct postpartum moms, perimenapausal women, and really anyone wanting to learn how to sustain a healthy lifestyle. I am also a Certified Fitness Trainer for 9 years and just obtained my Nutrition Coach Certification last year, 2024. My mission is to help busy women have FAITH in their FITness journey from HOME or anywhere they decide pick up a dumbbell! Fitness is not just about being the strongest or the fittest. It’s about feeling your best mentally, physically and spiritually. It’s also about understanding that life is about balance and fun. You don’t have to be on a crazy diet or strict workout plan. You simply have to live and love life by enjoying all the little things, as well as keeping your heart and body happy in the process. I am most proud of my creativity when it comes to designing home workouts. Most fitness trainers will harp on Basic Strength is best for changing your body-and while this is true, I also find it’s important to keep you in the workout mindset of wanting more to help you stay consistent in the long run. Depending on your fitness goals, I help you get there…but you will enjoy the process more than anything. This outlook on fitness will help you stay consistent so that you can see results and long term, help you reach your fitness goals by establishing healthy habits for a lifetime.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
For sure! But honestly I already knew this because this is how and why I started…You only need a set a dumbbells and your body to get into the best shape of your life…all from home. You don’t need fancy equipment or a gym…so many people in this world who have had total transformations will tell you this. Staying home doesn’t mean staying still! Use the space around you, get outside for walks and enjoy the journey to transform your lifestyle! I think it took Covid happening for others to learn this…and honestly, it was a blessing in disguise for so many.
