Meet D’Angelo Brackeen of JackyBProductions in Arlington

Today we’d like to introduce you to D’Angelo Brackeen.

D’Angelo, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My family has always been musically inclined. I got started with music in middle school by playing percussion. Ever since then, I’ve practiced non-stop to prove that I could be the best I could be. I did not get into the technical side of music until my senior year of high school. I started to produce hip hop and electronic music. At the end of my senior year, I decided to attend Stephen F. Austin State University to receive my bachelor’s in Sound, Recording, and Technology. As of now, I currently produce and mix hip hop music for friends and colleagues while planning to graduate this upcoming fall.

Has it been a smooth road?
There have been struggles along the way. No part of my college career has been easy for me. Every year, there were challenges and I have had to adapt to conquer those challenges. Some of those challenges include hard classes, financial issues, and a lot of family issues. Musically, it was hard to adapt to the high rate of competition there is, especially for producing. But never the less, I definitely could not have made it this far without God. He has been my rock.

Tell us more about the business.
I am a sole business owner. I have built this production company from the ground up since I was a freshman. The equipment and everything else is paid for me. I specialize in hip hop production and mixing engineering, but mainly known for producing. What I am most proud of is the fact that I set goals for myself and have exceeded them with higher expectations than I could have ever imagined. What sets me apart from others is I have an ear and a passion for what I do. I lead the artists I work with instead of letting them figure it out on their own. I am a multi-faceted.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The music industry will be more advanced than ever, being that we are in the year of 2020. In the next decade, I can only imagine what the industry will be like, but one thing I can say is that I plan to be a big part of it.
