Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Gillean.
Hi Daniel, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I began my career in construction in 2006. My father was a contractor. So I technically began before 2006 as a kid and teenager working for him. I worked in that company for 10+ years before starting Gillean Brothers Roofing by myself in 2017. Since then the company focus has been customer service and community outreach work with local charities and events. I poured everything I had into it in the early years building it to where it is today. I am really proud of what I have built. The support of the community is incredible. Our phone steadily rings with inbound customers wanting to use our services year around. I am a testament to the American dream and coming from nothing to build something that truly impacts the community in a positive way. It not only provides myself with the ability to provide for my family. It allows my employees to provide and thrive as well.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I have had many struggles along the way. Some of the biggest struggles early on is staying motivated through the ups and down. When weeks or months are going bad but you keep showing up. Specifically I have had normal struggles businesses have. Such as cash flow struggles, employees stealing, customers not paying, and so on. Starting any business will come with problems. Its all about pushing through and keeping it going through the struggles.
As you know, we’re big fans of Gillean Brothers Roofing . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We specialize in roofing repairs and roof replacements. We work on both residential and commercial roofs along with most all roof types. We handle insurance claims for customers along with retail estimates. One thing that sets us apart is our dedication to customer service. We have a whole repair division to help customers get smaller repairs done at an affordable price. Most companies just push for replacements. Also we handle insurance claims with honesty and integrity. We charge our customers the deductible portion of the claim because thats the law. Many companies give money back to customers and or forge insurance documents to gain customers. We assure our customers our entire process is transparent and by the books. We use the highest quality materials and do not cut corners.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Save money and plan for the future years. Dont just look at this month or next. Also make sure you keep track of finances at the beginning. Hire a cpa from the start. Make sure also and enjoy the early years. You will be working a lot the first 3-5 years. So make sure you enjoy the grind at the beginning. If you just keep going you will most likely get to where you want to be.
