Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Hernandez.
Daniel, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I originally started shooting to help out with my best friend’s music career. We needed to get him some visuals, photoshoots, videos, just content in general. Once we started looking around, we realized that we weren’t going to be able to afford anything. We were in high school and barely working part-time. So, my mom helped me buy a camera and we started shooting from there. I’ve since been shooting exclusively for a handful of rappers. I now focus on commercials for small businesses and weddings. There’s something about video that’s just timeless and I love being able to provide people with something that will always take them back to the good old days.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Things definitely could have gone smoother. There have been several shoots where I forgot pieces of equipment, SD cards that lose footage, clients that are difficult, etc. However, my support system is solid. I have my family and girlfriend that stand behind me and my work. My girlfriend is also my second shooter/assistant. I wouldn’t be able to book half as many events as I do without her.
Dano Productions – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I’m a 25-year-old photographer and videographer. I do senior shoots, family shoots, portraits, etc. but more specifically, I specialize in music videos, commercials and wedding videography. I’m most proud of the fact that I went from not knowing how to work a camera using three different types of cameras, teaching myself how to use different editing software and being able to actually help someone in the photography and videography community if they had questions about anything. I think what sets me apart from others is my work ethic. I work a 9-5, I’m constantly listening and learning, I edit after work, I shoot during the week and on weekends, I spend time with my family, my girlfriend, and still find time to create content for myself.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
One time I was shooting a video and someone that was at the club that we were shooting at came up to me and said, “Bro I been following you on social media for a long time now and I just wanted to let you know that I look up to you.” This moment just kind of blew my mind because I have never thought that I was actually doing something worth watching and you know here I am reaching people that I had never even met before. It was a really good feeling like I was doing something right.
