Meet Daniel Mofor of Don Morphy in Central Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Mofor.

Daniel, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born in Cameroon, West Africa and moved to the United States in 1999. After earning my Bachelor Degree in Computer Engineering and also my MBA, I began working thereafter for the Walmart home office in Arkansas. I worked as an engineer at Walmart up until January 2017, and then I relocated to Dallas. While still working full-time for Walmart, I founded the Don Morphy menswear label, and operated it part-time up until 2017. I was and still am very passionate about fashion. Immediately I began visiting Italy and attending the top fashion shows once the brand was founded. While there, I was very lucky to be introduced to many of the top Italian designers like Roberto Mararo, Pirrone Massimo, and Lino Ieluzzi. From there, some of the designers introduced me to the top Italian factories, and then I started producing. During this process, I was featured on the top fashion blogs and for some of the top magazines like GQ, Esquire, Vogue, New York Times, and Huffington Post. As the brand has expanded, I’ve been extremely fortunate to have styled influencers and celebrities such as Dwight Howard, Bishop T.D. Jakes, Emmitt Smith, and other NFL and NBA stars.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. Unfortunately, many of my friends and others did not believe in me until they started seeing me on television and in the magazines. Also, in the beginning of the Don Morphy production process, I began with ready-to-wear suits and it did not go as planned. Since my brand is defined by luxury and higher priced, it was hard to compare with other labels in the game. Now, things have gotten much better as people recognize the Don Morphy name, aesthetic and influence.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Don Morphy – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Don Morphy blends the gentleman’s need for classy clothing and shoes that fit perfectly. The label started in 2014 with the idea of bringing Italian quality and flair to discerning customers in the United States and abroad. Based in Texas, its designers travel worldwide to find the best tailors and fabrics to bring the highest quality to the customer. All of the suits and shoes are designed in the United States and then handmade in Florence, Italy.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love Dallas because my family is here, people want to get to know me as a person and not just as a designer, and people here are overall very fun and simple.

As for what I like least, I think it would be the obvious — the weather, and then coming in second is my wish that people were more fashionable.

    I have been privileged to have “The Don Morphy” experience. I call it an experience for a reason. There are no short cuts to how incredible this brand is. This brand embodies luxury. From the quality of material to the design process. Daniel’s attention to detail and flare is like no one in the business. He embraces fashion and the Don Morphy brand so much so that he is a walking billboard. He is the definition of innovation with an aesthetic so strong that you know a Don Morphy suit when you see one. It is no dyeing the talent or the impeccable genius in the construction of each piece.
