Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Franklin.
Danielle, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I knew I wanted to be a dentist since high school. During college at Texas A&M University in College Station, I completed a summer program and really fell in love! After graduation from dental school, Baylor College of Dentistry, I worked at different offices and after 4 years decided to open my own practice. I wanted to have a practice that was upbeat, had a positive vibe and where people felt comfortable. I wanted a practice where I could build relationships with people, not just look in their mouths.
I choose Duncanville because it had a “small town” feel for a big city. I chose the name Sunflower Dental because a sunflower is bright and cheery. That’s what I want my practice to represent. It is very common to hear laughter when you come in our office! I have been open for almost 5 years and look forward to many more years in practice. This is my dream job!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being the first person in my immediate family to own a business, there were some growing pains. I had to learn many things about the business aspect of dentistry really fast. It is still a learning process, but I truly do enjoy the challenge!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Sunflower Dental – what should we know?
Sunflower Dental is a family focused practice. We do many aspects of dentistry from cleanings, fillings and crowns to whitening and Invisalign, I am most proud of the relationships I build with my patients. I love to catch up on their life journeys. I think that is what sets us apart from many practices. We try to make each appointment a joyful experience.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Compassion…to treat others how you would like to be treated. This not only applies to my patients but to my team as well. A great team works “better together!” This is what we say each day after our morning huddle to remind ourselves that we all are working for the same goal, to make our patients have a great experience!
