Meet Danielle Hasting of One Fine Day in Plano

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Hasting.

Danielle, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve worked as a Certified Wedding Planner since 2000. My first two clients were friends of mine – a gay couple and a pregnant friend – who had been turned away and treated poorly by other vendors in the industry. They got me hooked on the bug. It was the most rewarding experience, so I just kept pursuing it.

Has it been a smooth road?
Starting a business is never easy; it’s like a road full of potholes. You have to take care of your staff, your clients, and your business. Of course, getting clients is usually a hard part, but luckily for me my first clients were friends of mine. Getting your business out there takes a lot of work and commitment. Advertising only does so much, but word of mouth goes far as well.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the One Fine Day LLC story. Tell us more about the business.
Our focus is always on the couple and their families, doing everything in our power to give them the experience of a lifetime for their event. No matter if your wedding is big or small, traditional or modern; we are here to help you make it unforgettable. We offer everything from full production planning to day of coordination and can tailor any package to fit your needs. While weddings are our passion, we love expanding our area of expertise to help you create any style of event. Something that really sets us apart is our Bridal Boot Camp seminar. We strive to educate our clients on the timeline and decisions they have to make through the Bridal Boot Camp seminar. They walk through realistic expectations and etiquette of the event, vendor responsibilities and standards for the wedding industry.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Our industry is very much like a pendulum. It goes from being a D-I-Y styled event where the client wants to do a lot of the planning and constructing themselves or to a very hands off “I want to tell you what I want” and you make it happen. Both can be good and bad in their own ways. Sometimes a client bites off more than they can handle, and we get called in at the last minute to address any issues or fix situations that have arisen that had we been involved from the beginning wouldn’t have occurred. Every 5 – 7 years it swings one way with everyone wanting a planner and then the other where a planner isn’t as popular at the start, but we fill more of a fixer role in the end.
