Today, we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Hayes. Danielle was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Fharren Mason.
Hi Danielle, we’re so thrilled to have you sharing your story with us today. Maybe we can kick things off by having you introduce yourself to our readers? We’d love to have you go into your story and how you got to where you are today.
Well, I guess I can say my story starts with the admiration of my mom. My mother was an educator and loved every minute of it. Of course there were some rough moments but she pushed through and made sure her students knew they could always count on her. Have her all to her students. It didn’t matter what side of the track they were from, she was going to teach them as if they were her own. Sometimes, we would be jealous of her students because it appeared that our mom was doing more for them than us. My mother would listen to those children’s dreams and make sure they had the resources needed to obtain them. She was one of the few. Watching her love and nurture her students while giving them what they needed academically, was always a joy to watch and it made me feel proud to be her daughter. I owe almost everything that I have to her. Mrs. Josephine Hayes.
Let’s talk about your work and career – what else should we know?
I am currently a health profession recruiting specialist. I started out wanting to be a dental hygienist. Going to the dentist was always exciting to me. I know that’s not something you normally hear. For me, I always noticed a persons teeth before anything else. I had a meeting with my high school counselor about my dream and she quickly told me that a hygienist wasn’t a career that most people like me were interested in and my grades weren’t good enough. I allowed that to settle in my spirit and I chose another career, Education. I received my Bachelor’s degree as well as a Masters degree in Education. Being in the classroom was wonderful. I was able to teach, encourage, and shape young people. I enjoyed my time there. But I felt confined and pursued a career in recruitment. Being a health professions recruiter has allowed me to introduce careers to young, rural, underserved, minority students who were once told that they couldn’t do it and I get to show them that they can. It is one of the best feelings hearing your high school student report that they were accepted into the university of their choice so they can begin their journey in medicine. It is a joy hearing your undergrad students report that they were accepted into the medical school of their choice. Going to work everyday is no longer a chore because I enjoy what I do and I’m dedicated to making sure that I reach, teach, and encourage every student that cross my path.
So, as we mentioned to our audience earlier, you were introduced to us by Infinite styles by Fharren and we really admire them and what they’ve built. For folks who might not be as familiar, can you tell them a bit about your experience with Infinite styles by Fharren.
I absolutely love Fharren! My experience with her was phenomenal! I’m not big on style or fashion. Knowing what piece goes with what is not one of my strengths. I contacted Fharren about a style idea for a casual birthday outing. She was so professional and kind. She asked me to send a few inspiration pictures and she immediately went to work! I remember her asking me if she could take me outside my box and because I trusted her, I said yes! She got my sizes for each piece, she placed the order for me and when they arrived, I was pleased and surprised! She picked the PERFECT pieces for me! I was absolutely amazed! Since then, I’ve used her several times and I do and will continue to refer people to shop with her!
