Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Sanders.
Hi Danielle, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Baking has always been a part of my life. Growing up, my grandmothers were the bakers in our family, and I was always right there in the kitchen with them. I was more of an observer than a hands on baker at the time, but I loved watching them, learning from them, and simply being in that space. That early exposure planted a love for baking that stayed with me.
As my grandmothers got older, I began baking more on my own, mostly just for fun. I have always had a sweet tooth and enjoyed being creative in the kitchen. Before my father passed, he once shared a dream of opening a family bakery. At the time, I thought it was a really cool idea, but I never imagined how meaningful those words would become later.
After he passed in 2019, that memory stayed with me. In late 2024, I finally decided to turn my love for baking, especially cookies, into something more. I started small, baking for coworkers, family, and friends, letting them taste and give feedback. What began as a creative outlet quickly grew into something deeper.
Dani’s Doughlicious Desserts is the result of years of love, creativity, and inspiration from my family. It is not just a business, but a way to honor where I come from and the dream my father once shared. Turning something I love into a small business has been incredibly rewarding, and the support and growth I have experienced since starting have been truly humbling.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. I am a full time middle school teacher and a first time mom, and when I officially started Dani’s Doughlicious Desserts, my daughter was only about seven months old. Balancing teaching, motherhood, and building a business from the ground up was a real challenge. Motherhood does not have an off switch, and finding time to bake, prep dough, and show up consistently outside of my work schedule was difficult.
There were moments when it felt overwhelming, but having a strong support system made a huge difference. My husband and family have been instrumental in helping me find the time to pour into the business, whether that meant watching my daughter while I baked or supporting me as I showed up for events and orders.
While the journey has been challenging, it has also been incredibly rewarding. I have always trusted God’s process, even during the difficult moments, and staying committed has helped me push through. Over time, I found my flow and created a schedule that works for my life. It is getting easier, and every part of the struggle has been worth it.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Dani’s Doughlicious Desserts is a gourmet cookie business specializing in oversized, handcrafted cookies made 100 percent from scratch. What sets my brand apart is that I do not offer basic cookies. Instead, I take familiar, classic flavors and elevate them into something unique and indulgent.
Instead of offering a plain chocolate chip cookie, one of my top sellers is a Biscoff Chocolate Chip Cookie made with a rich brown butter base, cookie butter blended into the dough, and chunks of Biscoff cookies throughout. Another customer favorite is my Brookie, which is a chocolate chip cookie stuffed with a brownie in the center. My Banana Pudding Cookie, which brings the classic dessert to life in cookie form, continues to be one of my most popular items.
I also create seasonal and specialty cookies that push beyond the traditional. Past offerings have included a Pecan Pie Cookie stuffed with a pecan pie center, an Apple Pie Cookie, and a Dubai Chocolate Cookie. These limited and creative flavors allow me to constantly experiment while giving customers something unexpected and memorable.
My standard cookies are large four ounce cookies, giving customers a bakery style experience with every order. I also offer two ounce mini cookies for events, catering, and special occasions. These can be ordered by contacting me directly through email or through my social media platforms on Instagram, TikTok, or Facebook.
I am most proud of creating something that feels intentional and personal. Dani’s Doughlicious Desserts is rooted in creativity, quality, and heart. I love experimenting with new ideas and flavors, and I am always open to custom orders or bringing a customer’s vision to life. I want readers to know that when they order from my brand, they are getting more than just a cookie. They are getting a handcrafted dessert made with care, creativity, and a whole lot of love.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Most people don’t know that I’m a middle school math teacher by day and a baker by night. On the surface, numbers and cookies seem worlds apart, but both require creativity, precision, and problem-solving. Teaching keeps me organized and sharp, while baking lets me experiment and bring a little joy into people’s lives. Balancing both has taught me how to embrace challenges and find fulfillment in unexpected ways.
