Meet Danika Watson of Divine Care Now

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danika Watson.

Hi Danika, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
My journey started in high school when I determined caring for people was an innate ability. I prepped hard to get into nursing school. I attended Texas Tech University School of Nursing and graduated with my bachelor’s in nursing in 2010. I started my pediatric career fresh out of college, working in a Pediatric ICU in Lubbock. Lubbock is a level one trauma center and burn center, for which learning was endless. I then transferred to Dallas, landing a job at Medical City Dallas in their Pediatric ICU. Dallas was closer to home, as I grew up 60 miles south of there in a small town, Blooming Grove. As I continued my career in Pediatrics, I went back to school to obtain a Master’s in Nursing from Texas Tech and later a certification for Family Nurse Practitioner. I have worked here in Navarro County at Navarro Pediatrics as a Nurse Practitioner for 5 years now. Although pediatrics is my background and what I love most; I equipped myself to treat adults as well. Seeing the need for better communication with families, especially of littles, I founded Divine Care Now. Divine Care now started out as a concierge service to help parents navigate raising children and to help others tackle their health and nutrition. This service has allowed me to connect with many families, answer their questions, and but their minds to ease. There is just something special about a strong relationship between practitioner and family. After Covid, I realized the need for telemedicine was huge. I expanded my services to offer adult and pediatric telemedicine visits. I am proud to be able to offer such a service that expands beyond our county line.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road is not always easy, but nothing easy is rewarding. It is when you’re in the trenches and wanting to give up that make the outcome worth something. Being a wife and mother and having those duties come first definitely has made for long hours and tireless nights grinding to the end. Some struggles have been learning how to run a healthcare business in general. My degree is medical, they do not teach business and finances- those things I’ve had to navigate myself. Other obstacles is finding the perfect work-life balance. Now, the work is never done. I’m always educating myself, taking courses building better systems, ones that serve the community the best. My actions reflect unusual values and priorities. I value success more than some do. I want it more than some. Wanting it more is a decision I make and act upon, I make that value a priority- when you do that the road is never easy, the road is usually lonely, however the outcome; helping others be their best is what keeps me going.

As you know, we’re big fans of Divine Care Now. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Divine care now is an online healthcare concierge. I offer several avenues of caring for you and your family. There is telemedicine for your acute care needs, I offer prescription refills for when you are unable to get into your usual Primary Care provider. I also offer a subscription plan to allow you to get in touch with me almost any hour of the day. This is for parents and ones who are wanting to take their health to the next level. Having the intimate relationship, where we can text back and forth is special. Many parents enjoy the service as they can have their questions answered immediately from a healthcare professional.

What do you think about happiness?
