Meet Danny Quinones of DFW Massage and Beauty in Carrollton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danny Quinones.

Danny, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I guess my story started around the time my partner and I got our first place together in Frisco about seven years ago. I switched from community college to cosmetology school. While attending Toni&Guy, I worked at Ulta, I gained a lot of experience at both.

During that time my partner, Ace was a MAC product specialist, so our house was constantly full of artists. One of those artists turned into a roommate, a family member, and girl who inspired me to be a better professional. Ellie taught me lessons you can only gain from an apprentice/mentor relationship.

After I finished school, we left Frisco and moved to Fort Worth. I worked for a short time for RDA and learned about the product, then move into a booth at Beauty Brands and learned what a real salon was like. I love hair! I love skin! And I love nails! We moved back to Dallas after my partner left MAC and returned to Glamour Shots.

Asked to come back by the VP, Ace couldn’t say no. Ace asked for me to help at Glamour Shots; so I worked with a seasoned staff of Glamour Shots. But I only worked for Glamour Shots for a short time before attending Texas Center for Massage Therapy.

That seven and a half months was some of the best… And some of the worst times of my life. Massage school changed me the most! I gained an understanding of how the human body works. I thought I was a critical thinker before massage school, but it wasn’t until massage school that I understood that you can really never stop learning. I’m so grateful for the classmates and the teachers I had, we were and are still a family!

I got my first job as a massage therapist at a privately owned spa. And knew if I stuck it out at my first job for a year I could get almost any job I wanted, but in the meantime, I made the massage job a part-time job. I then opened DFW Massage and Beauty, a mobile business.

Then the VP of Glamour Shots offered me another job… This time for a new sister company, a med spa. I would be the lead for a skin rejuvenation spa! Working for Julie was my favorite thing! She made me love coming to work! Being at Glamour Shots and Modern Body Centers was tough and beautiful. Then in I was offered a job in the medical field for massage.

I am currently a Physical Medicine Assistant for private practice, Modoma Massage in Coppell. I really get to make a difference in people’s lives now. I have help people in ways I can’t say (HIPPA). I can’t imagine how things could get better some days, but I am still attending school about to finish my associates of science and move on to the next chapter of my life.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I’m not one to think much about the obstacles, but when you have people in your life that make a hard time not so hard than the obstacles don’t matter. Life is never easy, and I share a lot of the same challenges as a lot of other people.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the DFW Massage and Beauty story. Tell us more about the business.
My company’s name is DFW Massage and Beauty. I provide on location services for massage, hair, and make-up. In massage, I specialize in kinesiology and muscle structure. As a hairdresser, I specialize in color and the health of the hair. And with make-up, I aim for HD/camera ready for any application.

The proudest moments I have are when I read the reviews that people leave on my google account. I can’t tell you how it feels when a person tells me they no longer have pain because of what I did, or they felt the prettiest they have ever been, and that gave them the self-esteem they needed.

I’m the happiest knowing I made someone’s life better! Maybe that makes me different, who knows?

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I think everything happens for a reason! To be honest work really hard, and I think that pays off!
