Meet Daryl Gross of Gross Painting and Remodeling

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daryl Gross.

Daryl, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have been in the painting industry since I was 20 years old, working for various contractors out of Waco TX. In November of 2010, I came to Dallas on a greyhound bus with a laundry basket of belongings and a dream to start a new life with my wife and children. My wife and I started very small, with little to no equipment, but stayed persistent and trusting that if we remained humble in our estimates God would provide us the work. I went from carrying 20 ft. ladders on the top of a 1998 Lincoln town car, traveling 2 hours around Dallas for $100 jobs, to now being the top contractor for one of the largest property management companies in Dallas, as well as providing full service remodeling, residential and commercial, to all surrounding cities. We are a family owned and operated business so we keep our overhead and costs low, so that we can provide top-quality work to the average family without breaking their bank. I love making my customers happy and even though I am the owner, 9 times out of 10, I will be the one to provide the work for you personally, seeing to it that all jobs, big and small, receive the same customer service our name has stood by all these years.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I think people in this industry try to get too big too quick, leaving more room for error. It’s a slow climb to the top, rushing is self-defeating. It’s also very challenging to find a good helper/hand and individuals who take pride in their work when performing for others. We are very picky about who we add to our team so we are always looking for those eager to work who would like to grow with us!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I’ve been told on several occasions that I am the fastest painter to be found. I love what I do and am very good at it. There is no slacking!

We love doing flooring and bathroom and kitchen remodels, as well. Our customers are always satisfied and happy with how quick and clean the process winds up being.

Our customer service (I’d have to thank my wife) can’t be beat either. She makes sure our clients are happy and communicated with thoroughly. Our company can be reached on-call, weekends, and after hours to take in estimates, personal requests, questions or concerns. We love our customers and treat them like family.

Most importantly, I have seen the outrageous bids provided for customers for jobs that I charge a fraction of the cost on. I don’t know why so many companies try and get over on people with such high estimates. I just charge what I feel is fair and we do our best to work with budgets.

What were you like growing up?
I was your class clown, still am. Making people laugh is what I do. I grew up without my biological father so most of what I know is self-taught. It’s been frustrating at times to not have that guidance. My mother was a hard worker her whole life and taught me to just be a simple kind of man. Don’t sweat the small stuff.
