Today we’d like to introduce you to David Jemison.
David, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Since I was a little boy, I spent time watching my single mother make food that soothed the soul. She had a passion for taste and she always fed everybody! Fast forward to seven years ago when lying in bed, I told my wife I heard God tell me to buy a smoker. She laughed at first, but when she saw I was serious, she said, “If God told you to buy a smoker, then you better get the best one!’ At that time, I worked in a corporate job and through a correction in my P&L, my ranking when up and the smoker was paid for!! Still unsure about what I was doing with this smoker, I smoked a bunch of food and took it to a friend’s house to celebrate. Little did I know, there would be a woman visiting my friend’s house, that would launch my business. From that day, I began with small parties and weddings eventually growing to do city events, bigger weddings, and some very large corporate events. My wife and friends have been my biggest cheerleaders and encouragers. Today, Righteous BBQ is focused on loving and serving people with good food and great service.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road has been up and down. When I started my business, I worked in a corporate job, So most of my events looked like this: Leave the house by 6:30 am and return about 6;30 pm. I would get home, change into my BBQ clothes, and smoke meat overnight. I would get ready and go back to work and come home late and do my gig. A few things have tried to slow me.down, including losing a wheel that completely sheared off my BBQ rig on my way home from an event, I have blown tires traveling to weddings that were very far out, and most recently my truck had to have repairs. Nothing ventured, nothing gained!!

Righteous BBQ is a local catering company that focuses on serving Lewisville and the surrounding cities. We are devoted to helping our community. From serving the veterans to feeding the first responders on Christmas Day last year To providing food for families that need a little help every now and then, we do our best to fill the needs of our community. What sets us apart is we don’t just focus on our food, we focus on the customer and how we can be a part of making their event spectacular! Everywhere we serve, we do our best to create a memorable experience. I would have to say, my most popular item is the “Brisket Loaded Mac & Cheese”
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I love our city! People here recognize a good thing and as long as you serve our community, love its people, and treat everyone like family, then yes, Lewisville is a great place to start out. I am looking forward to a total revitalization of Old Town!
