Meet Davina Goodman of Traffic LA at The Joule in Downtown Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Davina Goodman.

Davina, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
With over 15 years of experience in retail management, I’ve worked with various contemporary brands and companies ranging from Kate Space and Intermix, to Nordstrom and CH Carolina Herrera. After leaving Scoop at Highland Park Village, I worked as an associate and women’s store manager for three years at TRAFFIC LA at The Joule before I was promoted to General Manager this past year.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Of course there have been some bumps along the way. What’s funny, though, is that all of those setbacks or terrible jobs have really prepared me for the position I have today.

Traffic LA at The Joule – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The original TRAFFIC Los Angeles in Hollywood opened in the late 70’s and over time has become a celebrity favorite. TRAFFIC LA’s women’s and men’s shops at The Joule are a go-to for luxury streetwear in Dallas. We carry harder to find Japanese and European designers as well as several brands that are exclusive in Dallas and Texas.

What I love most about TRAFFIC LA at The Joule is getting to work with some of the most coveted designer brands in the world. Also, something else I find very rewarding about my position is the fact that I get to work for owners and executives who are very inclusive, allow me to have a voice, and be a part of growing the business. That is very rare in this industry.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
My focus as a manager is on employee growth and development by providing associates the opportunity to build on their talents. My perfect success scenario is when my entire team is succeeding. If we are all hitting our goals, and the store is also making its sales goals, I think that’s a huge win.
