Today we’d like to introduce you to De’Andre Jackson.
Thanks for sharing your story with us De’Andre. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Growing up, I was always around my dad who ran his own BBQ catering business and would cook for the family and neighborhood. I watched and learned but never really started doing my own thing until college. I was at Iowa State playing football and would BBQ for my teammates. After suffering a career ending knee injury vs Oklahoma my senior year I was back in the Dallas area. My dad had opened his own restaurant shortly after and my wife and I helped manage and run the day to day operations really learning the business from scratch. We decided shortly after to branch out and start our own BBQ restaurant. Our own recipes and style of cooking with our sports theme. Winning has always been a way of life to me and as an athlete winning in everything you do becomes extremely important to your success on and off the field. I have always continued to strive to Win in life and so it was only fitting to call our restaurant Winners BBQ.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Running a business is never a smooth road. We have had a lot of ups and downs but we have learned from each thing and used each experience to make us better!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Winners BBQ – what should we know?
We run 2 full service BBQ restaurants! We specialize in a variety of meats, sandwiches and loaded potatoes. We are really proud at how far our company has come in a short time. It’s truly rewarding to see and hear our customer’s reactions to our food. I think what sets us apart is our flavor. our dry rub that we use on our ribs is something most people around here aren’t familiar with and it sets us apart from the rest.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I feel that hard work and dedication is by far the most important quality. We don’t ever stop working to reach new goals.
