Today we’d like to introduce you to Debbie Day.
Debbie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I had the idea back in 2015 when my kids and I went to England for my son’s wedding. We all have dogs and they would hate to be bored so I had to ask a friend to stay at my house to dog sit. I knew that there must be a need for this as pets are family.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No it hasn’t been as easy as I had thought….
I quit my full-time job in June, but business hasn’t come in as expected. I blame the summer as people have already made their vacation plans.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Mary Poopins Pet Services story. Tell us more about the business.
I do multiple things from dog walking, drop in visits, overnight stays, taking pets to and from the vets, groomers, day care. I am a baker so make cakes and cookies for the pets too! Finally, my son is an outstanding artist and will do custom art work.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
My good luck comes from all the friends that I have in the area and fully support me and my ideas.
Pricing:
- 30 min walk/visit for up to 2 pets – $20, $5 per extra pet
- Overnight stay including am walk – $70
