Today we’d like to introduce you to Deevo Tindall.
Deevo, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Hello, my name is Deevo and I am the proud owner of Fusion Photography. I am a southern California transplant that now proudly claims Charlotte as “HOME”!
I started Fusion Photography in 2003 after I had a disastrous experience with my “photographer” at my wedding because I was trying to save money. Prior to that, I was a hobbyist photographer shooting weekends, landscapes, and friends while simultaneously holding down a 60-hour workweek as a project manager for a bank.
Truthfully, I never knew photography would be a career. Since then my team and I have photographed over 1000 weddings collectively. Traveled the world and photographed weddings in Mexico, Europe, the Caribbean, and South America. We have made countless friends and still photograph some of our earliest clients. And now we are widely considered one of the best photography studios in the region. Photography is so much more than just taking a picture. Every photograph should tell a story and it should resonate for years to come, transporting you back to the moment it was created every time you look at it.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Deevo is a photographer, writer, serial entrepreneur, ex-corporate executive, master photographer, and now a budding social media aficionado. Prior to his entrepreneurial life, he worked for a Fortune 50 company for over 15 years as the Senior Project Director managing multi-million dollar projects and international business teams.
His current company, Fusion Photography, is an international photo, video, and content creation studio, based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Deevo also runs a weekly podcast, and Instagram Live show that boasts over 25,000 impressions each week. His previous venture, Carolina Sport and Social was the premier adult sports league and social network in the Carolinas, with over 15,000 members participating in social and athletic events all over the Queen City. Deevo sold CSS in 2015.
He has contributed commentary and bylines to Photography Magazine, The Knot, and Wedding Wire, as well as a contributing author for various industry blogs and insider resources. Deevo was cited as one “Three Best Photographers in the Southeast” by a recent publication and awarded Best of Photographers five times by Knot Magazine. Deevo is a graduate of Trinity College and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Economics and a minor in Film Studies.
While at Trinity, Deevo was an active member of the varsity collegiate athletics program, President and Founder of Trinity Television as well as the Director of the college intramural society. Deevo lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he is a single dad to two beautiful young ladies and a few four-legged ones as well. He is an avid reader of both historical, science fiction and business development literature and an active soccer player and coach, as well as a fitness enthusiast.
He escapes it all by retreating to mountain and beach getaways and destination travel to obscure locations around the world. To date, he has visited 15 different countries outside the US and counting. Deevo’s whatever-it-takes attitude, commitment to excellence and core philosophy that connecting with people authentically is paramount in business has helped fuel his explosive success in a short amount of time.

At Fusion, we prefer to focus on the experience over the photography. There are a million (literally) “photographers”. The digital age and cell phones have brought all the photographers out of the woodwork and one of the greatest features that separate the real photographers from the hobbyists is the experience you create for your clients not only on the job, but behind the scenes, in the office, and in every interaction, you hold with your tribe.
We are a full-service studio that specializes in adventure and destination weddings and adventure engagement photoshoots. We also provide a core of other services but our focus is on the former.
I am most proud that we have been nimble over the years and are still functioning at an extremely high level. We are thought leaders and inspirators – always marching to the beat of our own drum. Over the last two years, we have been invited to speak at conferences, workshops and a litany of private events, discussing our process, our social media and our ambitions for the future.
In 2019, we launched a digital division called Sprout Digital that focuses on social media growth, digital management, consulting and soon to be released a series of workshops and masterminds.
What were you like growing up?
Curious. Interrogative and quiet. One of 12 siblings, I never really knew where I fit in beside the middle. The youngest boy of three, and six younger sisters beneath me, I always had a unique position in the family. For whatever reason, I was always the trendsetter and always going against the grain of my father, which served for some rather interesting stories that can’t be told here.
I was involved in a lot of variety. I played sports but also did theatre and chorus, loved dancing and journaling much to the chagrin of my father who always wanted me to focus on sports exclusively. As a child, I always wanted to work for National Geographic photographing animals. I used to steal the magazines from the local library and was awe-inspired by the amazing photographs. After college, I tried to get a job with Nat Geo but didn’t have enough experience and ended up selling my soul to the corporate world for 15 years before I turned entrepreneur.
