Deidre, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I realized earlier on that I best fulfill my destiny when I help others grow. However, finding the best way to do that was the hit and miss for me. I worked in my church as a children’s director, office manager and anywhere I was needed in the church. I loved doing all of that, but something was still missing.
Network marketing came naturally to me as I loved helping people in general. But what I noticed, was that I loved training my team and helping them to succeed more than selling the products! I also was a volunteer in a Women’s Shelter, I helped feed the homeless, opened my home to those in need and more, which was all so rewarding… but something was still missing.
Then five years ago, God spoke to my heart to help women by encouraging them in life and business. So, I learned the skills to do that and have been on a high ever since. I became a Mentor for women at my church and, along with my husband, became Home group leaders as well.
Then in 2015, I had my 1st retreat, The Breathe Retreat, it sold out and has sold out every year since. Wow, look at God! From the Breathe Retreat, coaching women evolved, and earlier this year I started a group for women only, Share Your Genius “Where Women Share Their Genius With Each Other.”
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would say it has been a slow road. I don’t believe there is a smooth road to success. There will be bumps, twists, and turns in the road, but if you make your WHY (why you are on this journey) bigger than any obstacles that come your way, you CAN win.
One thing I had to learn is how to pick my core team, my inner circle. Who were those three or four people that saw my vision, had my passion to see women succeed and had the heart to build and not to steal? Yes, there will be people who will just want to use your platform to build their own. However, there is nothing new under the sun, so I take refuge in knowing that what God has for me is for me.
Thankfully, I have such an awesome team of women that have helped me to create such a loving atmosphere that when the women get together, even strangers, everyone leaves with the feeling of being part of a family.
Another learned lesson, how to price my services and events without the guilt of charging at all. I struggled with creating my own pricing strategy. Prayer, time and lessons from my Mentor have helped me tremendously in that area. Also, I am blessed to have a very supportive spouse!

I have over 20 years of experience in sales, marketing/sales training, and strategy development. My passion for helping others to achieve their goals has opened opportunities for me to become a Business Coach and Mentor to women who desire clarity in finding their purpose and those who have goals of starting their own business.
Deidre Proctor & Associates houses two companies, Amazing Retreats International (which I co-founded with my husband David) and Share Your Genius, along with my coaching services. Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Wow, I have so many! I was blessed to have such wonderful parents and relatives.
Summer days at the beach on Lake Michigan holidays going from one Aunt’s house to the next, road trips to the south to visit grandparents and other relatives. All fond and fun memories. I love family.
I believe that is where my love to help others stems from.
