Meet Christina Logan-Rowe of Delectable Temptations in Cedar Hill

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Logan-Rowe.

Christina, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started out baking for my family, friends and co-workers for the holidays, special occasions and just because cravings BUT it was from a box mix. I enhanced the box mix to the point it tastes like it was from scratch. In 2012, I became serious and passionate about baking. I started baking 100% from scratch and never purchased another box mix again,

The passion for baking came so serious, I prayed and ask GOD for guidance, talked to my family and let them know how passionate I was about taking my baking to another level. They told me to go for it, we started thinking of names and Delectable Temptations came to my mind so clearly. I told my family the name that came to me and they loved it. I had my name registered and business cards made.

Now, I have an online bakery business that makes specialty cupcakes, cakes and pies.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, it’s been a struggle for me because I currently work a full-time job and running a start-up business with limited help. Most times, I get off work and come home to fulfill orders, so prioritization plays a HUGE part in my life. When you’re passionate about what you do, you pull it together, pray and ask GOD for strength to get orders finished. HE has answered my prayers.

I love what I do and there have been sleepless nights but I put my all into what I’m passionate about. My other struggle is getting advice/guidance from other culinary/baking professionals. Some people aren’t as willing to share their knowledge with you and for me, it can be discouraging. I don’t want to take away from the success of others; I realize that this world is big and it’s enough room for everyone to win in what they are passionate about.

Please tell us about Delectable Temptations.
I’m the owner of Delectable Temptations Online Bakery that specializes in specialty cupcakes, cakes and pies. I love to experiment different flavors with a combination of spices, fresh fruits and frostings to see how well they pair together. When you bake from scratch it’s limitless when it comes to flavors that you want to perfect….my family and clients call me the Mad Scientist in the kitchen..

My first signature scratch cake was the classic 7-up pound cake with lethal lemon glaze that everyone calls addictive, I turned that signature cake into cupcakes… what I’m known for in cake and cupcake form is: 7-up pound, down south peach cobbler, caramel apple pie, Ultimate red velvet, Banana pudding, white chocolate cookies n’ cream, Tres Leche Redefined, sweet potato pecan, strawberry cheesecake, cinnamon roll, lemon addiction and pumpkin spiced latte, to name a few. I’ve also created a pie called Holy Matrimony, I paired two signature pies together and they became one. It’s a huge hit that I’m really proud of.

I’m most proud of the support I have from my family and clients, I’ve come along way building my online business and realize this is just the beginning; I’ve donated cakes to people who are less fortunate for the holidays, participated in networking events and sponsored events as well with my temptations. I didn’t do this by myself, GOD and the support of my family has been by my side through it all, from laughter, tears and accomplishments.

What sets me apart from others is my flavors, most of my clients tell me they never heard of or even tried most of the flavors I provide. I put a lot of love and passion in what I make for my clients and it shows in my product; I’m truly blessed and humbled. I listen to my clients, giving them the opportunity to create a new flavor and make sure I provide exactly what they’re requesting and present it in a professional way. My clients eat with their eyes first so presentation and how my temptations taste is priority in my business. When you have loyal repeat clients and they become your PR person, that’s gratifying/humbling to me. I love being behind the scenes and let my product speak for itself.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I’m happy where I am today BUT if I had to start over, I would take business courses to further my knowledge in the learning process.
