Today we’d like to introduce you to Dennis Osei-tutu.
Hi Dennis, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Dennis Osei-tutu and I was born and raised in Ghana, West Africa. Since I was a very young boy, I have always had an interest in fabrics and clothing. While attending Ofori-Panin High School, I studied Visual Arts and Textiles and after graduating, I pursued the skill of sewing and clothing design. I later attended Tema Technical Institute to study General Advance Tailoring and after graduating moved to Texas, USA to further pursue my career in fashion.
I have worked as a Master Tailor in major fashion houses like Nordstrom, Mens Wearhouse, Suitsupply, etc. and at the moment own and operate Papa Tutu Designs a Bespoke clothing brand located in Irving TX.
At Papa Tutu Designs we believe the essential element of every gentleman’s wardrobe begins with the coat. Papa Tutu Designs is all about the fit, the feel, the look the statement.
With handcrafted patterns, precision cutting, and a signature silhouette. Papa Tutu Designs creates coats with ultimate distinction and sharpness. The kind of sharpness that can cut through a crowd.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has been gratifying but never smooth. From balancing a day job as a Tailor and starting a business from scratch, generating income to buy machines, equipments, and raw materials, training interns, etc. I have had to give it my all to get to where I am now. I’m sure I will have to sacrifice more going forward.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a bespoke tailor specializing in men’s and women’s suit and wearable art wear from hand-picked and unique fabrics. my designs are colorful, bold, and cut to fit the body with a distinctive sharpness like no other. My proudest moment is when I realized that I’m actually living a life that was a dream once upon a time. With my broad knowledge in Textiles, Garment making, and the human anatomy, I have the ability to cut any garment to wildly flatter the wearers’ unique physique that portrays a sharpness that will cut through the crowd
Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
A few books that have had a big impact on me are 1. The master key to riches by Napoleon hill 2. You are the placebo by Joe Dispenza.
