Today we’d like to introduce you to Dennis Wehrmann.
Dennis, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Our family tradition dates back to the 1800 when my great great grandfather opened Frankenbreu in Franken, Germany. My family is in the beer business since then. I crew up working in the brewery with age 6 and studied beer and food science in Munich after I finished brewing school.
I moved in 2003 from Nuernberg (my home town) Germany here to DFW as I was hired as a cooperate brew master for a brew pub chain. I opened Franconia 2008 as the first brewery in Dallas and the surroundings and the second brewery in north Texas. We are in our 10th year and focused on German beers mostly.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The biggest hurdle was in the beginning with construction and getting awareness as a local craft brewery from the retailers and consumers as they have been very mind set on what was available from the bigger guys.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Franconia Brewing Company – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are focusing on mostly German beers and brew them to the puritan law. We are very proud of being one of the more environmentally friendly breweries in Texas and can focus on customer loyalty as on creating trends through marketing.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
The plan is to stay true to our product and be happy every day by producing something people can enjoy every day.
The plans for right now is to continue our journey through this challenging and every day changing market by always improving and being innovative with our resources.
