Today we’d like to introduce you to Deony’icka Butler.
Hi Deony’icka, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My story, hmm where do I start? I started doing locs in 2018 really wasn’t taking it seriously then it was just more something to do, but I was really good at it. One day in 2020, I decided to start taking doing hair more seriously. I began doing hair for free, not just loc styles; I also started doing braids as well. It was extremely hard to build my clientele without a social media following, so I started doing hair for free. After a few months, I starting charging people, got a business page, and started my business officially. Fast forward to 2023, I am now self-employed doing hair full-time business still has its good and bad days but I’m still growing my social media following, building new clientele, starting hair school in the fall, keeping God first because I wouldn’t have gotten this far without him.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth road? There is no such thing. Most of my struggles came from me just believing in myself because with having a business you have your good days and bad every day is not going to be perfect. So, with me, it was more so keeping faith that the clients were gonna come, as long as I kept being consistent.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in Braids and Locs, in other words, protective styles for the hair. My specialty is retwist and Knotless braids, my clean parts is what makes me stands out the most you not gone find a more colder parter than me lol. I’m most proud of making it this far, I have so much more growth ahead of me. My will to push and keep going in the midst of adversity is what sets me apart from everybody else.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5-10 years, I can’t imagine how big the beauty/hair industry is going to be, but you won’t be able to mention the braiding industry without hearing 3Deeloccs. This name meansss everything to me; it is me.
