Derek and Tre, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Map Meals was birthed from one simple idea – to provide everyone in Dallas and beyond an affordable and convenient way to achieve their personal dietary and fitness goals. While there were companies out there with this same vision, my partner, Tre Childs and I felt that they were each missing one or another crucial component. With my medical and nutrition background and his background in fitness and marketing, we set out to create the best meal prep solution for the modern day individual. It was our goal to improve upon the offers of each of these companies in a way that was easy to navigate for the consumer while maintaining a price point that was cheaper than the average takeout meal. Since then, we have created a thriving culture of delicious food that is delivered fresh to thousands of doorsteps all across the metroplex – at no additional cost. Each of our meals is curated to the individual’s personal dietary goals and starts at just $6.99. It’s literally as simple as selecting your meals from your phone each week. All of one’s meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) planned, prepped and prepared in just seconds.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Since this isn’t our first business venture, you would think it would be easier than the last, but building Map Meals certainly hasn’t been a smooth road. Anytime you are trying to create something new, something that is as robust of an offering as this, there will be challenges. From; preparing thousands of personalized meals in a day, to getting them to the right doorsteps all over Dallas in a timely fashion, to simplifying the whole process to only a few seconds of effort from the end user, there have certainly been times where we felt as if we were out of ideas – but we are happy we continued to fight and progressed through them as many people are very very happy with our service because of it.
