Today we’d like to introduce you to Derek La’Caze.
Derek, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born in a small town in Louisiana, Natchitoches. Studied Mental Health at Northwestern State University & Louisiana State University. Played two years Professional Football in the Canadian Football League, two years Arena Football and Coached College Football two years in Minnesota. I spent most of my life working in Behavioral Hospitals until I opened a restaurant and catering business. I have always been a writer. During College, I became a Ghost Writer for several sitcoms, commercials and short films. I eventually wrote my own stage productions, commercials and started doing films. I finally got a big break on one of my films that we were in the middle of filming for a network when Covid19 hit and held up everything. So I decided to write a book in the downtime. I ended up writing an entire series. Published book one in April, released it May 1, 2020. Sold over 4000 copies in 11 Days! The Book Is called: How To Get Away With Cheating.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not always been smooth but it worked its way to being great until Covid19 wiped my businesses out! Catering, restaurant as well as filming so I published my book and the success hs definitely put food on the table and paid off some bills!

LaCaze Films is known for Commercials, Video, Short Films and Ghost Writing for many, many productions. We recently started writing and filming our own projects. Now we are known for a Best Selling Author with the success of our Erotic Thriller: How To Get Away with Cheating.
