Meet Derek Lamb of WaveGod Audio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Derek Lamb.

Derek, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Music has always been a part of me, so I’ve been creating in my head for as long as I can remember. I even remember making classroom rap songs way back in the 2nd grade that even had the teacher intrigued. I grew to love basketball but eventually, music came back into focus, and I decided to dedicate myself to becoming a master of my own musical creativity without regard to what it may be. That passion and connection between music and sports eventually helped shape my current work with composing music for the NBA, etc.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road to greatness could never be a smooth one. Simply because of all the qualities you have to possess to become “great.” The learning curve is a lot sharper than you might expect.

What were you like growing up?
I’ve always been an intellectual type. Always have creative things going on in mind. I like to connect with people but I’d probably be first seen as the quiet type. But that’s more of me always being observant and mentally strategic. I’ve always been a fun and funny person. I’ve always been a writer as well. It’s just something that was easy to do.
