Meet Dereka Patterson of Virtuous Visions Business Solutions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dereka Patterson.

Dereka, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Absolutely! My journey started back in college. As a freshman, I found myself naturally supporting friends, family, and colleagues with administrative tasks—everything from organizing schedules to planning events. I realized I had a real gift for structure and support plus a keen unmatched eye for attention to detail, and process improvement and implementation, so by my sophomore year, I shifted my major to Business Administration to pursue that passion more seriously.

From there, I worked my way up in the healthcare industry, starting as a Unit Secretary and eventually earning a position in Executive Administration at the C-suite level of Level 1 Trauma hospital. That experience gave me a front-row seat to high-level operations, leadership, and the importance of strategic support in business success.

In August 2022, I soft-launched Virtuous Visions Business Solutions, my own administrative consulting business, but things started slow. I knew I had something special, but I also knew the timing had to be right. Then in November 2024, God made it clear—it was time to go full force. That’s when I legitimized and officially launched the business, and I’ve made Him the CEO ever since. Every move I’ve made since then has been guided by faith, purpose, and the passion I’ve always had for helping others succeed behind the scenes. At this point my business is first a ministry!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—but every bump has built me. One of the biggest challenges early on was confidence. I knew I had the skill set, but stepping out on my own and putting a price on something that came naturally to me took some growth. Imposter syndrome is real, especially when you’re transitioning from being the support person to being the CEO of your own company.

Another struggle was the slow start. When I soft-launched in 2022, the momentum just wasn’t there, and it was discouraging at times. I had to learn that timing is everything, and just because something is delayed doesn’t mean it’s denied. When God said “go” in November 2024, I had to trust that—even if I couldn’t see the full picture yet.

Juggling being a dedicated wife, very present and involved mother, working full time, and building multiple businesses also brought its own challenges. But those moments taught me discipline, the power of boundaries, and how to lean into grace instead of perfection. Every struggle has sharpened me into the businesswoman I am today.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Virtuous Visions Business Solutions is more than a business—it’s a calling. We specialize in high-level virtual executive administrative support for entrepreneurs, creatives, and small business owners who are ready to scale but need the behind-the-scenes structure to do so. From scheduling and calendar management to client communications, back-office systems, and operational workflows, we help visionaries stay in their zone of genius while we take care of the rest.

In addition to administrative support, I also offer professional branding services, including graphic and web design (which is extremely popular right now) to help our clients show up professionally and consistently across all platforms. Whether you’re just getting started or refreshing your brand, we bring creative clarity that aligns with your goals.

What sets us apart is our heart. Every service I offer is rooted in excellence, integrity, and discernment. I don’t just check boxes—I partner with my clients to truly understand their mission and help them build systems that support sustainability and growth. I like to say I bring order and execution to the vision so purpose can flow.

I’m especially proud of how God leads this business. I don’t make a move without consulting the true CEO—Him. That spiritual foundation is what fuels my work and attracts clients who are purpose-driven and Kingdom-minded.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud that people can feel the Holy Spirit and professionalism when they interact with Virtuous Visions. I’m not just in business to get paid—I’m here to serve, steward, and elevate. I want potential clients to know that when you work with me, you’re not just hiring a virtual administrator—you’re gaining a strategic partner who’s invested in your growth, your purpose, and your peace of mind.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
So, I’m very intentional about what I allow into my spirit and mind, so I wouldn’t say I’m a “podcast girly” like that—because let’s be real, they’re giving everybody a mic these days, and I believe strongly in guarding both my ear and eye gates. That said, I do have a few trusted voices I listen to consistently. I’m a frequent listener of the InTotality Podcast with Megan Ashley, anything Pastor Jerry Flowers is teaching, and all things Saved in the City—those truly pour into me in a way that aligns with my faith, values, and purpose.

When it comes to books, you can always catch me reading something faith-based—whether it’s a devotional, a spiritual growth book, or YES… the Bible! That’s my anchor. God’s word keeps me grounded and gives me daily wisdom for life and business.

On the practical side, I’m big on using tools that boost both creativity and productivity. My favorite go-to apps are Canva, CapCut, PicArt, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and WIX. These platforms help me stay organized, create beautiful content for clients, and manage my brand with excellence.
