Meet Deseree Cottrell of TripleDBattlez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deseree Cottrell.

Deseree Cottrell

Hi Deseree, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started hosting parties in high school, from there I figured I didn’t want to work for anyone beside myself. I wanted to do something different besides just hosting or promoting other people’s parties. I strive to help the city flourish in the industry. There’s so much hidden talent in Dallas that hasn’t been recognized yet or haven’t had the opportunity to network.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Right now, some of my challenges include learning the business technicalities. I’ve learned to keep an amazing team for support. Its getting easier for me, being shy at times, promoting music and dance battles can be tricky. I’m learning to step out of my comfort zone and start speaking about my mission more often. Even though I get stage frighten at every event, I practice a lot in the mirror lol . In order for me to want to put my people on I have to put myself on 100%!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business.
I host events that I don’t think anyone else does in Dallas, Tx. The battles are different from back in the day, we’re not going against each other trying bashed each other. This is just for fun plus what better way to get Artists recognized for what they love to do the most. We’re looking for more dancers vs. dancers to show off their moves or artists of different genres going against each other. I did have a spring rap battle in April the turnout was amazing  all the artists were great. The crowd was hyped all night and this August 19th, 2023, I will be hosting an R&B battle. I’m getting people the opportunity to show off their music and dance skills. If I’m able to have you featured on a track with the hottest artist or background dancer in one of the greatest artists’ music video than I know I’m doing good work in the city.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory is every weekend before my granny died my brother & I use to always have movie night on Friday’s and Saturdays we’ll have game night. My granny would always make some type of spread of the weekend for us to eat, than Sunday we’ll have breakfast and Sunday dinner.
