Today we’d like to introduce you to Deshondra Gilstrap.
Deshondra, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Since I was a child, I have always had a passion for fashion and keeping up with trends that carried into adulthood. With a sharp eye in details of everything fashion, this brand was created and inspired for the everyday women. I wanted people like me to feel confident, smart, and glamorous when they put on their wardrobe down to the details. I also remembered that, coincidentally, Luxe is short for luxurious and SB Luxtique: “It’s all in the details” was born!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Although the road has not been easy, it has been very rewarding. There have been times I have had to redirect my vision and in some ways, “start over from scratch” but the important part that I learned was my ability to be flexible, make hard decisions and put my business first is what has kept me successful.
Personally, success to me is seeing people wearing my clothes and being confident in the way they look and feel. This is all I ever wanted, however, I’m definitely not complaining about the profit that comes with it – haha! I think my next marker of success would be seeing my designs included in Fashion Weeks around the globe.

From design to production and packaging, here at SB Luxtique, we control the whole operation. This allows us as a label to stay ahead of the trends and ensures that each individual piece from our brand is given the care it deserves as the quality is the top priority. Our customers can also look forward to SB Luxtique’s evolving inventory, with new, unique styles introduced every month.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
A childhood memory would be dreaming of being married, five kids and a full-time fashion designer/clothing brand owner. I always remember making sure my uniform at school had added accessories and the shoes to match. I never missed a beat when it came to clothing.
