Meet Destiny Kyles-Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Destiny Kyles-Jones.

Destiny, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a small town girl from Bolton, MS, which is 30 minutes outside of Jackson, MS. I am the daughter of Dennis Kyles and Machelle Shelby Kyles and the proud wife of Jarred Jones. I come from very humble beginnings. My parents always instilled in me the power of having self-worth and to treat people right. My parents are very hard workers and have excellent work ethics, which they also instilled in me.

From elementary to high school, I was involved in numerous activities and clubs. Ranging from Girls Scouts, Dance, Pageantry, and being elected by my peers to serve in leadership roles. My husband Jarred and I met on August 2, 2007, Two crazy and immature teenagers that fell in love fast, and we are still two crazy adults that are in love. Jarred taught me how to demonstrate love even if it’s not reciprocated. Upon graduating from Clinton High, I received a scholarship from Tougaloo College, which is a prestigious, private Historically Black College in Tougaloo, MS. Upon my matriculation there as a Political Science Major, I again served in many capacities while working three jobs. A few of my fondest memories were being initiated into the greatest sisterhood there is, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, and graduating Sumna Cuma Laude with a 3.7 GPA.

A week after graduation, my then fiance’ Jarred and I moved to Dallas, TX. Jarred had been offered position to work for L-3 Communications, and I had transferred to the Department of Justice in Irving, TX. December 7, 2013, Jarred and I were married and life began. I am a follower of Christ and I am very big on fasting. I felt like I’d ran my course with the Department of Justice. In fasting, I asked God for discernment and guidance for my next career choice, which led me to the insurance world. Everyone thought that I was crazy because I was leaving my federal job, where I’d possessed a Top Secret Security Clearance for 3.5 years to pursue insurance. God had aligned everything perfectly. We reached out to a family friend, State Farm Agent Jackie Bland, who introduced me to my mentor and father figure, State Farm Agent Earl Gordon.

These past two years have been extremely rewarding. I have learned a lot about myself and my determination. It’s an amazing feeling to be able to not only help customers but pour into my team members, just as my mentor did for me. Being a business owner is not easy, I am solely responsible for EVERYTHING in my agency, however, I have asked God to lead me in all my decision making. Without him, none of this would be possible. I am so blessed to be in my purpose and living my dream. Each day I wake up with a sense of gratitude, even on my worse days, God has reminded me of how faithful he is to his servants.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. There isn’t a “perfect” road to running a business. I’ve had a lot of bumps and snags in dealing with my agency, however, it has allowed me to grow and become more accountable.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am an Independent Contractor that solicits business solely for State Farm Insurance. My agency is efficient in auto, renters, homeowners, health, health supplement policies, disability, banking, life insurance, and financial services. My particular specialty is life insurance. That is by far my FAVORITE product that State Farm Offers. I am very knowledgeable about what life insurance can not only do for the dead but the for the living also I absolutely LOVE State Farm as a company. Not only are we the number one auto and homeowners insurance company, but we are also number one in life insurance. I could not have picked a better company to represent me and my customer’s needs.

We are literally a one-stop shop, and I will forever ride for the FARM. Because I am from a small town, my agency has a warm and intimate touch to it. We try our best to reach out and establish relationships with all of our clientele. We are active in our community, and we solicit business all over the state of Texas. We try to add a personable touch with every person we come in contact with. It is my purpose to educate and help my customers achieve their goals. Every day I conductFREE Insurance Financial Reviews with my customers. This is to establish that we are meeting their expectations and helping them get closer to there dreams. My agency’s motto is to be the” Best Part of Someone’s Worse Day”.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
God deserves all of the credit, however, he has surrounded me with an amazing support team. My Husband and Family are extremely instrumental in my success. My immediate, extended, and in laws have played a major role also. I’ve been fortunate to have solid friends for a lifetime, and they’ve always had my back, right or wrong. My church and State Farm Family have been a tremendous help. Fellow Mississippians, who’ve referred or moved to Texas has helped a lot with the growth of my clientele.
