Today we’d like to introduce you to Devonte Willis.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve always been into creating and finally figured out to create while involving all my passions. I love art, fashion & sports and those interests are what I put into each dalore sportíer piece. I got serious with designing my sophomore year of high school. I went to a very diverse hs, MacArthur in Irving, TX.
There were skaters, jocks, preppy kids, etc. & I hung out with everyone. All the styles inspired me. I started making my own clothing just to flex personally and people took notice and wanted pieces of their own. Dalore sportíer really blossomed from there. I did it for fun & now it’s my career.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely. There were often times I wanted to give up. Not hitting sales goals, business partners trying to get over on you, finding the right manufacturer… all these issues I now know are just a part of the daily grind of an entrepreneur. Being a business owner definitely isn’t for the weak. It takes an incredible amount of faith, calculated risk-taking, consistency, and a lot of god’s favor to succeed in this game. It’s taught me a lot and allowed me… better yet forced me, made me grow. But I am thankful for the struggles… they’ve given me muscle to persevere through anything else that may come up on my journey toward success.
Dalore Sportíer – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Dalore Sportíer is an independent fashion label based in Dallas TX. Taking aesthetic cues from sights, sounds, sports, and fashion of the past and present to curate the future. Dalore sportier encourages risk-taking and facing your fears to overcome all obstacles. With a strong focus on exclusivity and quality – our garments are meant to last the test of time. Our collections are imported and sourced locally – we pride ourselves in bringing versatility to the marketplace of fashion.
We are bringing athleisure, sprinkled with a high fashion look and quality to the streetwear game, ready-to-wear. We call it “gliss” not “drip”. The power of the mind is everything and if you look good, you feel good. We are proud to say that sets us apart from the rest of the world.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment has just been me getting this far in the journey. From me building the right connections and working with those connections to get Dalore Sportíer placed in exclusive hands and me sticking with creating even during the off points.
I have tremendous plans for the future of Dalore Sportíer. From us expanding our reach to global markets, using our resources to give back to the community in various ways, being recognized with the heavy hitters in the marketplace. We are looking forward to getting the respect of Dallas as a whole and especially my hometown, Irving TX. We plan on being in a few retail stores by early 2020. The future is bright, and we are highly favored! I can’t wait to chat with you guys again in a few years about new levels Dalore Sportíer has reached!
