Meet Diana Mendoza

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana Mendoza.

Diana, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Never in my mind did I ever think or say “I’m going to be a photographer one day.” For me, it was kind of one of those things that just happened! I have always been in tune with my artistic side. I love every form of art, whether it be singing, dancing, theatre, photography, etc. Creativity was something I’ve always just known. I wish I had a magical story to tell you as to why I picked up my first camera, but I don’t.

My story is a little different. The first time I realized I wanted to pursue photography was during a hard season in my life. My daughter at the time was pursuing her modeling career and desperately needed headshots. Financially, I wasn’t in a position to hire a professional to assist me in taking my daughters photos. So, I did what any single mother would do. I found a way to just make it happen! I borrowed my first DSLR camera and styled my daughter’s first portrait session and there was no turning back for me after that. I just couldn’t help but fall in love.

With love, comes passion, desire, inspiration, strength and I found that in photography. The passion I feel when creating and capturing a moment.

The desire I now feel to live in the present and really pay attention to detail, the inspiration I get when I can feel the emotions I have captured with my camera. The strength and hope it brings me when capturing is once in a lifetime moments.

The world is a beautiful place. Inspiration is everywhere and photography has brought to my life the liberty of expressing that.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been hard because creativity can only take you so far when it comes to dealing with technology lol.
But no one can stop you from working hard and that’s what I have had to do. I was 110% ready to just learn it all. I’m very blessed to say I have not walked this journey alone. God has placed wonderful and successful photographers who share the same level of passion as me who have embraced my career and have invested time in mentoring me along the way.

If you really want something in life, you can’t just sit around and wait for it to happen. We must go after it! The road to success is meant only for the brave and strong hearted. It comes down to how badly you really want it. I can’t promise anyone is going to be easy, but I can tell you the fulfillment it brings me is incomparable!

Please tell us about Diana Mendoza Photography.
Diana Mendoza Photography is the name of my photography business. I’m based out of the Dallas/Fort Worth area but I am open to travel. I have focused my photography on Weddings, Engagement, Family Portraits, and Maternity photos. I really want my clients to feel more like family. I want them to know and see how beautiful life truly is through my art. My goal has always been to inspire others into embracing the beauty of life and really knowing how valuable each and every individual is. I don’t want to be classified just as a photographer. I want to uplift and encourage others to also follow their dreams. I’ am not content if all I do is take your photo, to me it’s so much more than that. I embrace my clients vision for their event and really care to capture the uniqueness of their family. I’m very proud of how successful my business to this day has been. My clients have truly blessed me and have brought me the desire to just want more. I’ll never be done growing!!

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have started sooner lol!! I can’t say I regret anything, to be honest. I feel like if I altered the beginning to my career it wouldn’t have become what it is today. I think that my heart has been very open and transparent because I want others to know that it starts from the inside out! So many people didn’t think I could pursue this industry. I myself have had to fight my giants of insecurity along the way, but that’s what makes a story beautiful. The rawness of saying that it wasn’t easy makes me relatable to others who also struggle with the idea of really believing they were created for so much more. I wouldn’t change a thing!!
