Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Diem Nguyen.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Dr. Nguyen. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My interest in the dental profession started at a very young age. My mother was always on top of my dental appointments and I’ve always enjoyed seeing the dentist ever since I could remember. Whether it was a routine cleaning, filling, baby tooth extraction, it didn’t bother me at all. I was actually excited about it! Since then, my mind was set on having a career in dentistry, that is why I always encourage my patients with young children to bring them in for their first dental visit to get that positive first experience while receiving preventative care.
I received my undergraduate degree from Baylor University and then received my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at The University of Michigan. I enjoyed my time in Michigan but my heart belonged in Texas. I moved back to Dallas and have worked closely with colleagues, mentors, and associates throughout the DFW Metroplex, honing my craft and enabling me to open my own office where I can continue to grow my dentistry passion. Vibrant Dental Care first opened its doors in December 2016! One of my missions is to help patients realize the importance of preventive dental care. I encourage patients to schedule routine dental exams to help prevent their need for extensive dental work in the future.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I am a firm believer that worthwhile goals must go through many struggles. Challenging goals have plenty of obstacles to motivate you and make you push yourself. They build character, knowledge, strength, determination, patience, and helps you realize what you never thought you were capable of.
While working towards my goals in becoming a dentist with my own practice, I had to make sure I maintained my grades in school, get accustomed to a new city, and pass my board exams. After becoming a dentist, I had to continue learning from mentors and keep up with new dental technology and methods. My most recent challenge was starting up my own dental office and learning how to run a business, which they do not teach you in dental school! Without all the struggles along the way, I would not have developed the determination to achieve these accomplishments and be where I am today.
