Thanks for sharing your story with us Dinah. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Honestly, me doing locz started as a “struggle hustle”. My first client was my son which was in 2016, and a lot of people loved his hair. In the time of need, I started booking clients for extra funds and help. Once I noticed how good I was and how many clients really supported me, I wanted to do and learn more. So the end of 2018 and the beginning of 2019 I decided I wanted to expand what I was offering and learn how to style and actually Maintenance and grow locz. I made me an Instagram and had close friends to help me build and promote my work. Once I kept posting and promoting my clientele went through the roof! I started getting bookings like crazy.
Has it been a smooth road?
No, it as not been a smooth road. As a lot say “what’s worth having is worth fighting for” and with that being said there has been plenty of challenges I had to overcome to get where I’m at now. My main challenge was appointments and clients. It got really discouraging when I wasn’t getting bookings or followings or clients. I had to learn how to THROW my work out there. I had to learn what to say and not say in my posting as well. Promoting and marketing played a big part in my clientele and bookings and I didn’t know that. With the help of a good friend and also a stylist Jasmine, I was able to get where I needed to be and grow my platform. I’m not where I want to be YET but with the help and support from family friends and CLIENTS, staying and REMAINING humble will most definitely get me there.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Loczby_dana story. Tell us more about the business.
Well, I’m the owner of Loczby_dana. I retwist/maintenance locz. I wash the retwist style and start locz. I’m mainly known for my parts and neatness and of course my two strand twist that is highly requested. I’m mainly proud of my growth. I have procrastinated and been indecisive for a long time but still managed to GROW. What I honestly think set me apart from others is that I take my time in EVERY client’s head. I make sure I make them feel good and don’t treat my service as a “job”. You are not just another paying customer in my chair, you are an appreciated client that will be back and bragging about my work once you leave and that means a lot to me.
