Meet Adam J. Harris

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam J. Harris.

Director Adam J. Harris

Hi Adam, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
From a child, I had always dreamed of being an actor in the big movies. I could imagine myself playing these emotional roles, and at times, I would practice lines I remembered from my favorite movies. For the longest, I never believed in myself enough to take a step in the direction of my dreams until, at the age of 19, I decided to take an acting class John Casablanca’s in Carrollton, TX. In my classes, they loved my skills, but they were more intrigued by my direction skills and helping other actors becoming more skilled in their niche. I never wanted to be a director, but when I would ask my friends to make short films and skits with me, no one knew how to use a camera or direct except for me. For the past 7 years, I’ve been working in the film industry doing many jobs such as Director, Assistant Director, Boom Operator, Production Assistant, Assistant Camera, Grip, Producer, and more. Some were one-day projects with unknown actors, and some were projects that lasted weeks with celebrities I only knew from Tv or social media. Today, I hone in on my Producer and Director skills as I begin production of my FIRST full-length (90-minute) movie. I have written the story, built a crew, and trained the actors I work with.

With all of the work on my belt, I plan to show the world what a person can do with little to nothing and how big of an impact you can make by staying dedicated, utilizing your network, and putting all of your time into what you believe in.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like any road to success, there are always obstacles that will cross in your path. It took some time for me to learn that with patience, some obstacles will move themselves out of your way, and some you have to keep pushing past. Has it been a smooth road, no, but it has been easy ever since I figured out that the only person that was holding me back was myself.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a film Writer/Producer/Director. I started my career as a music artist and built my network of friends and fans all over Dallas, TX. As I transitioned from one career to another, I brought with me those who believed in me more than they believed in what I was doing. I am proud that I have come as far as making my own full-length movie, building my own crew, and staying dedicated to my dreams.

Unlike most people beginning in the realm of film, I did this with no schooling, no training, no formal education, just years of trial and error and studying the greats. No one can outmatch my dedication and desire to be one of the greats because I don’t compete with anyone on my level. My only competition are those who are selling movies for billions of dollars and have massive audience. So, my goals are to figure out their plan and execute mine how they do.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
The film industry is going to be taking a major shift in content and quality. As we see, anyone and everyone with a camera can make a movie and get distribution on any platform if they know the right people, and can cause a little buzz. It has caused a dramatic effect on the industry, but I have no concerns because to compete with me means you must know how to play with the big boys, and I sure know how to.
