Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominique Crayton.
Hi Dominique, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Swag Vault LLC was born out of my genuine love for sneakers. I’ve always been passionate about the culture — there’s truly nothing like unboxing a fresh pair of Jordans and breathing in that new sneaker smell. I started the business in 2021 during the pandemic to help people secure the kicks they love without the hassle of standing in long lines or constantly missing out on raffles. It began as a way to serve others and turned into something much deeper.
At the end of 2023, I hit one of the darkest points in my life. I was in a relationship that was draining me physically, mentally, and emotionally. Depression settled in, and I found myself struggling with suicidal thoughts. In that season of pain and isolation, I was scrolling Instagram and randomly came across a local trainer who had posted about a church called Social Dallas. Something told me to tune in, so I watched online the following Sunday — and then the next Sunday, and the next.
As I continued to watch from home, I rededicated my life to Christ. Though I grew up in church and my grandmother laid a strong spiritual foundation for me — even making me memorize the books of the Bible forward and backward — I had drifted away. Her favorite scripture was Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” That verse stuck with me through everything. Even when I felt unworthy, I realized God’s love never left. He welcomed me back with open arms.
In May 2024, I took a powerful step forward and got rebaptized. That moment symbolized a fresh start — a public declaration that I was choosing healing, wholeness, and faith over fear and brokenness.
During my healing journey, I kept telling myself, “It’s time to FLY.” That led to the birth of F.L.Y Apparel, which stands for Finally Love Yourself. The brand is rooted in faith, healing, and self-worth. Through therapy and spiritual growth, I learned that putting yourself first isn’t selfish — it’s survival. If you don’t love yourself, you risk losing yourself in others and in things.
Now, both Swag Vault and F.L.Y Apparel represent more than just sneakers and clothes. They’re about confidence, purpose, and a reminder that no matter where you’ve been, you can always rise again.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I actually took a year off from my business because, honestly, it just wasn’t feeling right. I was out of alignment mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. But now I’m back — refreshed, refocused, and moving with purpose.
I thank God whether I get 1 sale or 100 sales, because this is how I serve people. This is ministry for me. It’s not just about the product — it’s about the message behind it.
One of my biggest struggles has been staying consistent with my content and managing my time effectively. Balancing creativity, business, and personal life hasn’t always been easy, but I’m learning. Every setback has taught me something, and I’m committed to growing through it.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Professionally, I work as a Business Consultant for MHK, where I help clients configure and optimize their healthcare software solutions. I specialize in problem-solving, system configuration, and being the go-to person when something needs to get done. What sets me apart is my willingness to always learn, adapt, and jump in wherever I’m needed — whether it’s inside my 7-4 or within my own businesses.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I’m the proud mother of a beautiful 17-year-old daughter who will be a high school senior in the fall of 2025. God truly blessed me when He handpicked her for me. She’s not just my daughter — she’s my best friend, my biggest cheerleader, and honestly, my lifesaver. Watching her grow into the young woman she is today has been one of the greatest joys of my life. She inspires me to keep going, keep healing, and keep building something meaningful.
