Meet Dominique Lasha’e Jones of Jam Box Lounge in Addison and Frisco

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominique Lasha’e Jones.

Dominique, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started my entrepreneurial journey over 20 years ago with a marketing and event planning business, The Q Network. We provided marketing services for small businesses and national brands. Throwing parties was one of the biggest parts of the business, from album release parties for artist such as Ledisi & Alicia Keys to birthday celebrations for Shaquille O’Neal & Tony Dorsett to fashion shows, comedy shows and more!

I got into the fitness business after purchasing a Groupon to take Zumba classes with my bestie and from there, the studio owner pushed me into becoming an instructor. I launched Zumba Rocks and provided mobile classes in Carrollton, Grand Prairie, Uptown, Mckinney and Desoto. After three years of building a brand and a following, I opened up Jam Box Fitness Lounge in Addison. With my event planning and party background, I created a concept for fitness Monday – Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings and private events on the weekends.

Two years later, I opened the Frisco location and two years after that came the Dallas location in the Design District. I have some members that have been with me for eight years and we look forward to what God is up to next. I walked away from my marketing and event planning business to solely focus on fitness and work hard to create beautiful modern spaces for people to celebrate milestones such as weddings, birthdays, showers and more without all the red tape that most venues take you through. The atmosphere achieves two goals. One our members don’t feel like they are going to a gym because the vibe is like a Miami-style lounge and for clients looking for a space to celebrate, we give them what no one else can offer for the price!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Not at all. With all of our success, we have had our share of struggles. Our Frisco location shut down the fitness division after about eight months and solely focused on private events due to low attendance. We took about a year to regroup and restructure and opened about a year ago. We now have packed classes and a community of women that will literally fight you over Jam Box!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Jam Box Lounge – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am most proud of the relationships that have been created inside from Jam Box. Some members now travel together, spend the weekend together, go to church together, pray together, all from relationships that started at Jam Box. Some members start off very shy and now they are the ring leaders in conversations. As far as events, we have started to have repeat bookings from sweet 16 to now graduations, from weddings to now baby showers. So we are really a part of the community and plan to be around a long time. At Jam Box, you are not just another member you are truly family.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
