Meet Dr. Anthony Bean of Bean Professional Psychological Services & The Telos Project

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Anthony Bean.

Dr. Bean, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started both companies off from the ground up. They took a bit of time, but they have been worth it from the beginning. Both have been a passion of commitment which doesn’t always keep in focus at times due to the difficulty of the profession.

BPPS started because of my expertise in video gaming and how I use the virtual worlds to bring out the best a person can be. I work from an archetypal realm and heavily focus upon the character’s qualities as they tend to mirror the person who is playing them. There is a book coming out next year talking more about this from Routledge which can be a guide for clinicians.

The Telos Project started out due to seeing a need for individuals who have a lower income or are unable to obtain psychological services due to their insurance carriers. We take pretty much everything, even the ones that don’t pay well. We aim to service the community by providing lower than normal fees for individuals whom need testing and therapy services.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I think the largest struggle is working with insurance carriers for The Telos Project and for BPPS it is more about having the parents come on board with breaking down the disillusionment of Video Game Addiction.
