Meet Dr. Christy Walker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Christy Walker.

Dr. Walker, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am dual-trained and double board-certified in gynecology and cosmetic surgery. As a gynecologist who prides myself on a good rapport with patients, I am in the position of being able to counsel and make recommendations regarding a woman’s personal health and other various issues. As a result, patients have often strongly encouraged me to be the physician to perform their cosmetic procedures, often at the time of other GYN related surgeries or upon completing childbearing.

My passion to care for the whole woman, therefore, led me to seek out and receive acceptance into a cosmetic surgery fellowship. Because of my experience treating thousands of women over the past decade, I recognize the sensitive nature and emotional challenges associated with a woman’s body and her sense of femininity. As a woman myself, I identify the need to look good, be well, and feel great on the inside and out. My unique gynecologic surgery skills, coupled with broadened expertise in cosmetic surgery, allows me to address the most sensitive and confidential general cosmetic and vaginal surgical needs. I am married to an orthopedic surgeon, Torrance Walker, MD. We have two sons who keep us busy.

Has it been a smooth road?
No, Struggles. 1. Being a wife, mother, and physician can be challenging. It requires a supportive family dynamic and planning. 2. Defining my current role. Because there are only a hand full of dual trained gynecologists & cosmetic surgeons in the country, we do not fit into a neat little box. Therefore, I now have to educate others on cosmetic gynecology.

We’d love to hear more about your practice.
I perform traditional gynecology services and surgery. In addition, I also performed various cosmetic procedures including liposuction, incision-less body lifts using BodyTite, tummy tucks, vaginal cosmetic surgery, nonsurgical facelifts and body contouring.

Medspa services also include botox, lip augmentation, and fillers. In addition, we offer services using the latest technology, EVOLVE, nonsurgically to trim fat from stubborn areas, tighten lax skin, and simultaneously build and tone muscle without going to the gym.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
It is rapidly growing! 70% of people want to get or have had some type of cosmetic procedure. In addition, women are speaking out more about the desire to improve the girl parts rather than suffer in silence any longer. They are speaking out, asking questions, and having vaginal procedures to help restore their femininity.

Mommy makeovers are now whatever a woman decides she wants to have done for herself, not just traditional tummy tuck and breast lift. Procedures like BodyTite are also reducing the number of large scars and incisions as well as downtime while giving patients who are surgical candidates the same desired results. We are now offering more options that do not require big surgeries and recovery time.
