Check out our conversation with Dr. Elia below.
Hi Dr. Elia, so great to have you join us again. For folks who might have missed our earlier conversations, can you please take a minute to briefly introduce yourself?
I am a mobile chiropractor in the Dallas – Fort Worth metroplex. My goal is to always provide my patients with the best possible care, in the comfort of their home or at work, while avoiding schedule constrains.
We have learned that you now provide Functional Medicine as a service to your patients; what is Functional Medicine and how does it help?
Functional Medicine is the study of the body’s systems and how they function in relation to one another. Any changes in one part of the body will sooner or later reflect on another system. As functional medicine providers, we look at these patterns mostly through lab work, then, connect the dots between the patients’ symptoms and the system malfunctions as presented through the lab work. After a careful evaluation, we provide the patient with a detailed plan on what needs to take place in order for their bodies systems to find balance again and their problems resolved.
It’s very important to look at trends and patterns in order to prevent diseases and disorders before they fully develop. Our goal is always to improve our patient lives by bring the system back in balance and not just treating the symptoms.
You also provide mobile chiropractic and mobile massage services; what does the mobile service look like for the patient?
We created PEAKiropractic to help the residents of the DFW metroplex get the care they need no matter their schedule. Being able to receive chiropractic care and/or massage therapy in your own space, at a convenient time, our patients no longer have to sit in traffic, waiting rooms, and shuffle their schedule around to fit their appointment. We deliver the care to their door!
Since the last interview together, we added Licensed Massage therapists to fulfill our patients massage therapy needs. The results have been amazing so far! We have treated patients with MS, post-operative lymphatic massage, chronic aches and pain, even sports massage and wellness care. The synergistic effects we have seen from chiropractic and massage therapy have been a game changer for our patients health!
During the patient’s experience, our licensed providers will show up at the patients location of choice with a portable table and all the tools they will need to provide the service. Upon arrival, we will call the patient to let them know we are ready and gain permission to enter the location. We will set up our portable table in the area designated by the patient. This can be the living room, hallway, or a separate room. Once the service is complete, we pack everything up and exit the place. Each service is independent of each other; patients can receive chiropractic care, massage therapy, or both. Even though we offer both services, the two do not take place at the same time. They are individual and distinct services.
For our new chiropractic patients, the initial visit consists of the consultation, to understand the cause of your symptoms, a thorough examination, including a physical, orthopedic and neurological examination that focuses on your complaints and the first treatment. Everything is thoroughly explained to your complete satisfaction before any treatment is rendered.
For our returning chiropractic patients, the follow up visits are straight to treatment. Treatment usually consists of chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue therapy and therapeutic exercises when indicated.
During the massage therapy sessions, you can let the therapist know the area you want to be worked on during your session. When the patient is under chiropractic care as well, there is communication between providers and the goals of each therapy and the progress seen during each session.
Is there a topic in chiropractic that you are currently learning about to incorporate in your practice?
I have just finished a book called “Why zebras don’t get ulcers”. The book is about how the stress response works in humans and other animals. It explains how different situations influence ones’ response and potential outcome. I am hoping, with this knowledge, to be able to guide my patients on how to coop with the stress that comes their way into a more peaceful and stress-free lifestyle.
Alright, so before we go, how can our readers connect with you to learn more and show support?
Anyone can connect with me through phone, email, or social media. I would encourage your readers that may have any health concerns, to reach out. If we are not able to help, we will direct them to the appropriate specialist. On our blog, we share some health and wellness tips and tricks we’ve found helpful for our patients. And if anyone has a health related topic they would like to learn more about, just send us a line and we’ll get on it!
