Meet Dr. Mandy Meyk

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Mandy Meyk.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am Dr. Mandy Meyk. I have a doctorate in clinical psychology. I specialize in behavioral therapy for dogs that suffer with behavior problems. I also offer therapeutic support for owners in learning how to properly recondition their dogs. Most are rescues or dogs that have been brought from traumatic situations. But I work with all types from puppies to seniors.

My work spans over 25 years of experience in therapy. My background is from working with canines that have been sent back from deployment during Afghanistan war time. It is now my passion and purpose to help the community unite with their dogs.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of my greatest challenges have been simply helping others develop compassion for mental health. This encompasses dog and animal mental health as well. Many people still believe that striking their animals or rubbing their noses in potty time is still acceptable behavior. I am here to teach and educate humane behavior. Breaking these patterns has been and still is groundbreaking.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We are nonprofit educational and longitudinal study-based program

What were you like growing up?
My family always Nicknamed me Dr. Dolittle. I have a deep passion with connecting to animals who have no voice.
