Meet Dr. Vanessa G. Hall of CrossRoads Information Technology Group, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Vanessa G. Hall

Hi Dr. Vanessa G., please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Dr. Vanessa G. Hall: A Journey of Faith, Family, Technology, Perseverance and Leadership

Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, and raised in the small town of Lake Providence, LA—once labeled by CNN as the most disenfranchised place in America—Dr. Vanessa G. Hall’s path to success was shaped by resilience, faith, and the values instilled by her parents, both of whom were educators. Despite limited resources, she pursued higher education at Southern University, an HBCU in Baton Rouge, where she majored in Mechanical Engineering Technology. She went on to obtain her MBA and Doctorate in Information Technology Management establishing her as a reckoning force in the field of technology.. Taking every NO as an avenue to learn how to get to her YES helped to build a foundation that set her on a trajectory to become an accomplished Information Technology (IT) professional of over 30 years across diverse industries and an entrepreneur – CEO and Founder of CrossRoads IT Group specializing in AI Compliance, Program and Project Management, Government and Private Contracting, and STEM UP for EQUITY program building a STEM Ecosystem around the future leaders in underrepresented communities. Dr. Hall’s commitment to the under-represented community is a very personal one and she provides hours of volunteer work to several school districts in the midst of leading her technology organization and serving customers across the nation.

Dr. Hall currently serves as CEO/Founder of CrossRoads IT Group where she leads a team of technical and business resources. Dr. Hall’s career has spanned from technology developer to technology executive to technology business owner driving some of the major technology and business transformations domestically and globally.

In addition to her corporate achievements across the globe, Dr. Hall is the founder and owner of Crossroads Information Technology Group (ITG), an organization that provides AI Compliance, IT Staffing, Program and Project Management resources, Cloud Back up and Restore, Leadership training, technology educational and academic services, and a published program STEM UP for EQUITY building a STEM ecosystem around our students.. Her expertise extends across multiple sectors—health, retail, and banking—and she has led strategic initiatives to develop and convert domestic and international financial platforms. Her global footprint includes work in Europe, India, and various regions across the U.S., where she has trained offshore staff, integrated global models, and managed large-scale software conversions for major corporations.

A passionate advocate for women in technology, Dr. Hall founded STEM UP for EQUITY, a program dedicated to mentoring and coaching students to provide exposure and a roadmap forward in STEM. One of the program’s component, “The Inner Win”, empowers students with life skills that are essential for success in today’s world. Through her leadership, Dr. Hall continues to pave the way for future generations, breaking barriers and providing opportunities for everyone willing to learn to excel in STEM fields.

On a personal note, Dr. Hall is deeply committed to her family. She is married, with two children and five beautiful grandchildren. She enjoys reading, writing, listening to music, volunteering, and playing chess. Her life’s philosophy, “God first, family second, and the remaining components of life will align,” She daily reflects and prioritizes the balance she maintains between her personal and professional life. With faith and endurance as her guiding principles, Dr. Hall firmly believes that these are the key factors in achieving one’s goals. Her belief system is grounded in trust, authenticity, and integrity and she realizes challenges will come but when they do we must always engage in these three principles to rise above obstacles. This process is not always easy but it is the only way to excel and operate in forward progression. Operating in love and forgiveness provides our souls the freedom to soar. While teaching mentees academically how to excel, the focus to truly embrace and find their inner peace and practice integrity is top of mind for Dr. Hall in every endeavor. I want them to understand the keys to changing their trajectories and experiencing life in a way and hear how education and determination took a young girl from Lake Providence La from riding in the back of her father’s Ford pick-up truck in a cotton field to traveling via Corporate Lear and seeing parts of the world she could only dream of. NEVER GIVE UP!

Dr. Vanessa G. Hall’s story is one of inspiration, innovation, and unwavering determination—a testament to the power of faith, hard work, and visionary leadership in technology and beyond.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No it has been anything from smooth. Some of the struggles have been challenges shaped by both racial and gender biases. Some of the struggles have been the biases and toxicity of African American women experience in the technology corporate arena. I have been denied opportunities due to others feeling uncomfortable because of my education, race, and gender. While I do not let this hinder my progression, what I have experienced is real. The tech industry is especially difficult. Underrepresentation: African American women are significantly underrepresented in the tech industry, often finding yourself as the only person of color or the only woman in predominantly white, male-dominated spaces. This lack of representation can create feelings of isolation and marginalization.. When moving into a leadership role where I thought I could bring change, it was all talk. The leaders would bring me in and ask for ideas but never execute on the ideas leaving me feeling that the entire exercise was one to just have me feel they wanted change but as time went on quickly realized they did not want to truly help but to appear to be interested in change. It is heart breaking for sure. The 2nd struggle was
Bias and Discrimination: Racial and gender biases are prevalent, resulting in fewer opportunities for leadership, promotions, and recognition. Women of color may face microaggressions, stereotyping, and the need to consistently prove our capabilities to counteract preconceived notions. One environment become so toxic in this activity from leadership until it was evident by the tone in the room. I have been slandered for advancing, one meeting where the team was planning to get our employees educated and certified in a specific discipline and I had gone through the process a year ago. I never talked about my accomplishments in group settings (always feeling the need to dumb myself down) but another leader voiced the perspective that I was already certified and before I could respond, this toxic leader comes off of mute and sarcastically states, “why didn’t I know Miss PhD was already certified”. I was shocked, humiliated, stunned, and hurt. This is just one of the examples of the toxicity experienced under this leader. We all understand not every leader will have this type of energy but it happens a great deal with the female and especially the African American female in corporate. Most times, sadly, it is the female leader that is being toxic with another female instead of building their sister up.
The pay gap was also a struggle. Women and especially African American women in technology experience a persistent wage gap compared to their white male and female counterparts. This gap further perpetuates inequalities in wealth-building and financial security within the field. The struggle to learn of opportunities was also a challenge. Due to cultural barriers inclusivity was a challenging space and we often found when we crossed those barriers it was a beautiful thing and strong relationships were developed. It takes everyone working together to make sure opportunities are equitable and we all are willing to learn about each other and in the words of VP Harris when we do we find out “we have more in common than what separates us”. I now Coach and assist African American Women in Corporate to assist them in navigating these challenging waters. My organization is partnering with NovaQUEST Coaching in 2025 to start a community series for Women entitled “Knock It Off” where we will seek to support women especially Women of Color navigate the testy waters of Corporate America.
Now while there may be many roadblocks along the journey, I have experienced advocates that God provided to help propel my career that consisted of individuals of all races and I am grateful. When you be the person you want to see in others, the atmosphere changes. When I kept pushing forward in authenticity and love, in spite of the headwinds, God always provided what I call “a ram in the bush” and that is my message to everyone. You may run into giant size obstacles but you will always overcome them if you keep the faith and keep pressing forward.
