Today we’d like to introduce you to Jorge Gutierrez.
Jorge, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am from Monterrey, Mexico. I graduated as a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) and took the risk to start a business in distribution. I started doing business in 1999 and in 2004 I came to the US, started a small distribution company here in Arlington, TX and grew my business by introducing new products to the US market. While in this business I learned a lot. I saw the opportunity to increase the sales of the products with experiential marketing. That’s when I started Dracko in 2008, back then I had 5 employees, now I employ 90 full time employees and over 350 contract labors.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Changing my profile, me being a public accounting and starting a business, I knew very little about. Coming to a new country, learning the language, the laws, and the money. I spent a lot of time away from my family working day and night to grow my company. Not everyone wants to see you grow and not everyone is going to have love for your company as you do.
Dracko Merchandising – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Dracko is able provide a broad range or marketing services, which helps build stronger relationships with our clients. Also allows the company to guarantee increased sales, ensure impactful brand exposure and consumer conversions after executing our marketing strategies designed to attract and retain consumers at various levels of engagement.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My company recently won “Minority Professional Services Firm” of the year this past October. Award was given by the Minority Business Development Agency with the U.S Chamber of commerce.
