Meet Duane Tyree of Platinum MUSIC Complex in North Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Duane Tyree.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Duane. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started my musical journey at the age of 11. I started off playing violin in an orchestra. After 2 years I switched over to the upright bass. I was hooked on music. I began playing guitar at 12 years of age. After being told by my parents several times a day “turn that down” me and a friend formed a rock band and started rehearsing in a storage unit in Irving TX. It was miserable… But, we were having so much fun.

At that point, I knew someday I wanted to own a rehearsal studio. I have always had the vision to have something more than a rehearsal studio. I wanted to give musicians a platform to have everything they needed on their journey in music.

After many disappointments trying to find just the right building for my vision, I finally found it. A four story, 65,000 sq. ft. office building located on I635. One of the busiest highways in Dallas.

Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t been an easy road. Trying to find just the right building, and location was tough. After all, rehearsals can get a little loud at times. Having a neighboring business was not an option.

I had opened a smaller location down the road called the Texas Music Factory. Then it happened. The state decided to widen the highway. I was shut down…

I searched for just the right location for over 5 years. I had driven by my current location for 4 years thinking, “I could never get into something like that”.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Platinum MUSIC Complex – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I don’t want to come across prideful, because I am not. My vision has set me apart from the other rehearsal studios because we are much more than that.

I didn’t get into the business to be competition. I got into the business because I love Music.

We specialize in catering to our clients. We offer much more than rehearsal space. We have a full recording studio that is ran by a Platinum winning producer. We have the largest hourly rehearsal room in Dallas.

We have 135 monthly rooms where the bands have 24 hour access into their rooms. We host a show called “Backstage Pass” hosted by JC Scars, where we video interview local bands, and blast it all over social media to get them more exposure. We also have a weekly show called “Platinum Concert Connection” hosted by Ric Hare, where we update with a video calendar of all the concerts that bands send in so that we can also blast them all over social media to get more people to their shows.

We have an onsite break room with snacks and drinks, “Not a vending machine”. We have a photography studio to get great promo shots. And we have an amazing group of graphic designers.

If I had to answer. “What are you known for…?” I would say, “People know that we are here for the Dallas Ft. Worth music scene.”

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the talent that is in Dallas. There are so many gifted musicians in this city. I like that I get to see behind the scenes with the musicians. To watch, and hear them grow as they artist that they have set out to be.

My only dislike is that there are always people who are gonna hate on what you’re doing.
