Today we’d like to introduce you to Dulce Luna.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Everything started with an accident.
I had a torn meniscus in my knee from my job and I didn’t work for several months. I was already desperate when the doctor told me that I have to looking for another job, because my knee wouldn’t allow me to do my job any more (I was a waitress).
At that time I didn’t know what to do.
While I was driving, I heard that someone was giving a workshop and information about how to start your own business. I made sure to go!
I wanted to open a restaurant! It is the only thing that I know to do! The guy told me that I needed at least $350,000 to start. If I don’t have the money, credit or a sponsor, it would be so hard to make it. He told me “Go home. Think about it. Find something that you are good at.” And he was right.
Most of the time we have the answers in front of us and we can’t see it.
I belong to a long family of traditional healers. This means that I was born with a peculiar talent. I call it a “gift” – to help people to find balance in their lives, and show them the way to maintain their wellness.
I can never see someone in pain, because I want to run and try to fix them!
I never saw this “gift” (and I still can’t see it) as a business. Actually, my gift is free.
What I charge is for my knowledge and abilities that I learned as a licensed massage therapist – which allows me to work on muscles and help people that way.
At the beginning, as always when you start a big new adventure, there were stumbles. I didn’t have money to properly launch a business establishment, I didn’t know anyone, and when I finally met someone who was willing to give me an opportunity, I had to drive a long distance to them.
I was like that for several months until the fall of 2011, when I got my first office, a very small room that was full of love and care. Thanks to this place and the support of all my clients, I could eventually move to a larger office (an entire suite!) to increase the love and care I could deliver, in a comfortable and better environment with more accommodations and services.
I learned that all difficult things sometimes are good things and challenges are always opportunities.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing in life is easy. To create something that nobody can see, and make it tangible, requires self-trust, a lot of effort, discipline, smart work, being constant, and focus. My major issue, as always for everyone, is money. I realize that money is a tool – not a goal – and that you can have all that you need if you just go looking for it in an affordable way! My work has been recommended to others by many people since the beginning. I think my highest challenge is not to disappoint my clients each time that they look to me for help. All decisions come with new challenges – and that means, for me, new opportunities.

Dulce Luna Massage & Wellness was created as a refugee – to liberate stress, tension, and pain. We created a safe, comfortable, and cozy environment, to inspire relaxation, to feel like home, to build trust and confidence. Our major successes is when we accomplish the expectations of our clients and we work hard to make it happen. We always are looking for something new that can improve the wellness of our clients and impact positive in their lives. Success for us is touching a person a change their way to see life in a new perspective through a simple massage!
