Meet Alexis of A.E. Images in DFW

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis.

Alexis, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My freshmen year in high school, I was asked to pick a course of study. I had no idea what appealed to me back then being my only hobby was soccer at the time. That night, I stayed up trying to think of about something I’ve done my whole life that I could possibly tie into my area of study. I thought back to the tour our teacher took us on to each department. The only department that stood apart from the rest was photojournalism. I remembered my dad always buying my sister and me disposable cameras growing up and enjoying the anticipation of surprise from each roll we developed. So, I chose that. Soon after this decision, my brother gave me a box full of vintage film cameras and I started practicing. Throughout high school, I ventured from photojournalism to yearbook. My junior year, I started shooting professionally from senior photos to different portraits sessions outside of school. My senior year, I had a few mentors ask me to be a second shooter for a wedding they’d booked. I remember thinking to myself after getting home each night how terrifying and beautiful the whole opportunity was. Shortly after graduating, I received an invoice for a styled session for a wedding venue from there they enjoyed my work so much they started handing out my number left and right. I quit my nine to five job to make more time for the weddings booked and fell in love with being able to capture such an important day.

Has it been a smooth road?
No, with being so young in the field, I’ve had to overcome worries of financial stability to pursue my passion.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I’m a professional portrait, wedding, and event photographer. I’m most proud to capture memories my clients will smile at. I’d say what sets me apart outside of my client reasoning is I generally want to capture images that will make my clients feel something positive.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes! You have different locations to choose from, plenty of people to seek out and network with.
