Today we’d like to introduce you to E Moore.
Hi E, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
One day I was helping a friend move this heavy couch and thought to myself “Man somebody really made this couch”. After reading a book titled “The Alchemist” by Paulo Colhoe, about finding one’s destiny, the thought of making a couch crossed my mind. I decided right then to research how to make a couch or chair. From there, I decided to start smaller. I’ve always liked fashion. I think everyone likes to look good it makes you feel good. So, I thought about making small leather goods by hand until I get the equipment and machines, and workers. That was the birth of Moore Leather Goods. Handmade wallets, cardholders, keychains, holsters, and more.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been a smooth road so far because I’m choosing to stay small and local. When you get an order for 5 wallets in one day, it takes about 7-8 hrs. to finish 1. It can get overwhelming to find the time to complete the task at hand and still maintain a regular life.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about Moore Leather Goods?
Handmade leather goods. I use 100% vegetable-tanned leather. It is called “Vegetable” because of the natural materials used in the tanning process like tree bark. Vegetable tanning is also eco-friendly and is one of the oldest methods of tanning. Each piece is hand made I make small goods like wallets, bags, gun holsters, keychains, and acts I soon wish to make men’s dress shoes and women’s heels I use French riviera calf skin that comes from France. What sets me apart from the competition every item is handmade. Which means hand cut and hand stitched. No machines!!! I take pride in each item I make. I also provide leather cleaning and repairs
