Today we’d like to introduce you to Eduardo Graciano.
Eduardo, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Growing up, being the oldest came with a lot of responsibilities, one being that I was always the one having to take the photos on family vacations and any milestones. My love for photography came through from my love of cars and all of the scenery I would come across vacations. Back in 2016, as I finished all my college classes for the day, I decided to purchase my first camera which was a Canon Rebel T5i and took it with me to car meets and from then, it has flourished to what it is present day. For a couple of years, it was just a hobby of mine, taking pictures of friends, cars, and scenery. Little did I know, I have found my calling through all of this. With every shoot, it has been great to see my clients smile, have their personality shine and come alive, and be able to feel confident and beautiful.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
From turning a hobby into ‘Ambientephotography’, it was a tough transition. The main struggle I had when I first started was finding clients to book with me. With that being said, I did not let this bring me down because as James Clear once said, “Rome was not built in a day, but they were laying bricks every hour.” As time passed, I asked friends to let me take their photos, used my dog as a model, utilize them cars at all the car meets I would attend, etc.. I used my struggle as a motivation, I keep going out and taking photos, became consistent with showcasing my work to all my social media platforms, which has then helped me book shoots for individuals who found my photography great and knew I could find the beauty in any and all shoots.
Please tell us about your business.
I am a freelance photographer and my business is Ambientephotography. I am mainly known for my creativity in car and portrait photography. I am most proud of the joy, I tend to bring out of my clients from the initial conversation to the actual shoot, and as I send them the final product. Also, by seeing the reviews my clients leave, it gives me a reason to keep going. I believe that I set myself apart from other photography companies as the relationship I build with all clients. Before the day of the photoshoot, I connect with my clients and get to know them on a personal level so they do not feel shy. By connecting with them, I can incorporate their personality and bring out their best feature with every picture.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to look back on my journey and tell myself what I would do better if I were to start over, that would be the business side of starting a photography service. As a photographer and photographer might agree with me, is that all we want to do is go out into the world and shoot pictures. However, that is not the case. I did not know how much time and work would be put into getting my work out there, creating a website and just reaching out to get more clients.
