Today we’d like to introduce you to Eduardo Navarro Vaca.
Eduardo, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I wanted to open Dallas Running Tours since 2007 or 2008 but never followed up on my dream. I had a job and I was happy with my career.
Forward to 2015 after a bad layoff and I knew this was my chance to do something I really liked. First, I approached other similar businesses to see if they could give me some insight and I also started looking overseas to get an idea on how these tours worked at other cities.
I am happy to say, that the people who helped me, coached me and encouraged me were the catalyst for what DRT is today; a place where you can come and have a run, learn a bit of Dallas and make a friend!
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been easy, but it has not been hard either. The biggest struggle sometimes is getting your name out there and people knowing about our service.
Some of the early struggles is just getting to know your customers’ needs and wants even if they do not know it. For example, the majority of our runners are from out of town, and sometimes they do not know what they want to see or where they want to run. So probing and listening are key factors of success.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Dallas Running Tours story. Tell us more about the business.
Dallas Running Tours is a place where you as a runner can come and run at your own pace while having a conversation of Dallas, life, and anything that comes to mind. We are a sound board as much as we are a running company.
We specialize on running tours, mostly downtown but also white rock and Katy trail.
We believe that what sets us apart is how we interact with our runner guests. We strive for the best experience every time.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Honestly, I do not know. I hope and for what I can see it is a growing trend. However, it is also cyclical.
I hope to grow the business to a point that if you are in Dallas you want to come and run with us.
