Hi Edward, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
About 3 years ago, I realized that a lot of people had questions or were afraid of filing their taxes. Which I can completely understand, but it helped me see a need and desire to provide guidance and education surrounding taxes. When dealing with finances it is known to be a very personal aspect of one’s life, and something you can’t trust everyone with. It can definitely be frightening, but my goal is to make it as painless as possible.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I can honestly say It has not been the smoothest road. I began the process of starting my business at the end of 2019, then COVID came in at the beginning of 2020. It caused a few roadblocks and slowed down some business start-up processes, which gave me a lot of anxiety. Simply because tax season starts in January and I might not have been completely ready to start working with clients right away. Traditionally tax preparation takes place in an office setting, but with COVID-19 it somewhat forced myself as well as the world as a whole, to do things virtually. I was originally planning to lease office space for myself and my team, but a lightbulb went off and helped change my entire business dynamic. I work an 8-5 job in addition to owning and operating a business, so it just made sense to keep the business virtual.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I do see the growth and potential in the tax preparation industry over the next few years. Just within the past couple of years, so many small businesses have formed and developed. Which sometimes it requires a personal touch of advice from a tax professional, instead of what you’re able to just search on the internet There have been many challenges and speed bumps within the industry in recent years. A good portion of challenges that were faced started with tax law changes during and after 2020, but I believe that will force myself and others in the industry to further educate ourselves and grow.
